After 27 years of playing hard (competitive) soccer, 18 years of martial arts, and lots of weight lifting and running in between, I blew my knee out today refereeing (been at this for 9 years now. It was a girls U-19 game and I was on the line with 5 minutes left in the game. I turned to sprint down the line and after about 10 yards my knee went snap and down I went in a heap. I laid there for a moment got up and thought "oh this isn't bad at all", then I went down again. The worst injury I have had to date is a dislocated thumb. The on-site trainer said it is probably either an ACL injury or a fractured knee cap, they can't tell until the swelling goes down apparently. Wonderful stuff I tell you. It blows me away some of the hits I have taken and I do my knee on a sprint for crying out load!!!! I was told I am now officially old, I call crap!!!!
Now I am going to go have a drink (Dr's orders).
Cheers,
Castlewa
