Funny story about campaign posters.
A few years back, my father was running for state senate, here in Arkansas. I was with a friend working hard putting up Signs, on rural back country roads in the district. At the end of the day we decided to retrace our route and check out our handiwork. We went back and started from where we began. At the first stop, my fathers sign was nowhere to be found, but his competition had a sign exactly where my fathers had been earlier. As we retraced the route, all of my fathers signs were missing, we jumped back to the end of our route and waited patiently in the wood, with my trusty videocamera, and as we got set, a sherrifs car pulled up, and the sherrif gets out, with my fathers competitions sign, but no stake. He pulled my fathers sign, from the stake, and stapled the competitions sign, on our stake, while I quietly taped it. I took the tape home and made a VHS copy, to give to my dad. When he saw it, he laughed. I was furious, he was laughing until he saw the very angry look on my face, as all of my hard work for nothing.
Then he explained. He had a case, in court, about a traffic stop, involving the sherrif, where it was his clients word, against his sherrifs. He took the video to the judges chambers, and showed it to the judge. He won his case, the sherrif quietly resigned, and is now a metermaid, in a small town a few miles away. The election?? My father lost by less than 2% of the vote. My father looks back, and says he was glad he didn't win. He was happier spending his retirement with his family.
