OK, The man himself doesn't know who wrote his recommendation for the award. I have two NAMs (Navy Achievement Medal) and when you get get the citation, it says "The Secretary of the Navy....." and says NOTHING about WHO did the write up! I also saw the write up for my first one, real nice, about how I ran the install of a new commercial radar, and related GPS system, but by the time I receiced it at my next command it had been chopped up to read like any other BS end of tour award! So don't lecture me on not knowing exactly who wrote a citation! I've written some myself, including one for myself! I wasn't going to, but I was writing up the paperwork for three guys I used to serve with at Fleet Training Center, for coming to my last ship, on a weekend and helping us with our message processing system, and they eventually replaced the whole system (an $85,000 collection of 1970's technology) with a complete sysyem from training lab they were shutting down, and dismantling! My leading petty officer said "and don't forget yourself" and I said "Why?" and he said "because it was your idea to call them!" So I DO have a little experience with these things, and when they give you a medal, they read off the citation, you don't interrupt the CO and say, well, that's not exactly what happened. You stand at attention, salute shake his hand, pose for a picture receiving the citation, salute again, and he moves on to the next guy in line.
