POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. (Reuters) - President Bush (news - web sites) offered an unexpected reason on Monday for cracking down on frivolous medical lawsuits: "Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country."

Will George take over from Yogi?

I can tell you this. In the St Louis metro area we are losing doctors. My wife had to switch because there are so many friggin law suits that the OB-Gyns are no longer delivering babies. we are down to about 4 OBs that will still deliver. This is due to the frivolous law suits and the insurance cost caused by such. We are losing other specialists as well. A man in Springfield IL died recently because all the neuorsurgeons have left that area and they had to fly him to St Louis.

What is being done about this - nothing. I wrote my Congressman - who is a Democrat. He wrote back stating that tort reform is not an option cause it would not solve the problem but they are working on it.

To top this off I go into the law office where my sister works and there are Kerry fliers everywhere. The firm is well known for getting union workers big bucks for minor injuries. Now I know why tort reform is not an option.
