You need to look again, nobody is saying this was an atomic event. They couldn't do an above ground test without killing their own people plus that close to the Chinese border really wouldn't be a good idea IMHO.

You notice that everything written about this (the missle in AK) points back to that one article? No reports from CBS, CNN, ABC, NBC, Reuters etc etc.

Reuters did list this one... the other media networks you listed are the one's not talking about it...

In this case, I wouldn't jump to conclusions and assume for sure that it was a Nuclear event. I would investigate and ensure that I knew what this event was before I went off half-cocked on assumptions.
