I make it a point not to read messages that say "Everybody needs to read this."

reality may not be everyone's cup of tea. some may prefer to discuss the "th" in some documents.

every so often, jimmy breslin will show the curent list of those who have died needlessly in his column.
http://www.newsday.com/news/columnists/ny-jimmybreslin.columnist

when reading the names and backgrounds, if i found myself bored or didinterested, i would wonder where my sense of humanity went.

Rick, you know for a FACT that Saddam did not get any WMD's out of the Country before and during this War in Iraq? You know for a FACT this War was meaningless?

I see what the results of this war has brought... but you and AVB pounce on the Negative of the War and want to cover the Good up....

The War on Terror is going to be a long one.. and we don't have it happening in downtown New York City today.... or any other city in America...

I Thank Our American Men and Women in Service with Prayer every day for the sacrifices they face and are up against... in No Way in Hell would I use the deaths of these men and women to bolster anti war sentaments.... as like the pic rophoto posted on the pic boards... You people dwell on the fact of american service members dying to push your bitch with Bush...

Sick MF's.... Leave them out of it... they Served their Country with all they had and put up a fight they felt was the right thing to do or they wouldn't be there....

I myself would be gone tomorrow if I could be... because I feel it my duty to this Country to Protect the Sovernty their of... Death is the furthest thing from my mind Thats Gods choosing if it's my time!!!!

guys -- look. this is a little bit of info about some of our troops who gave the ultimate sacrifice. i read it. i appreciate knowing a little bit about these troops. i never want our heroes to be just a name or number -- this is a great way to make sure they don't.

i enjoyed getting to know them. god rest them in peace and give healing and comfort to those close to them.

doesn't have to be any political spin at all to it -- just that. doesn't have to be anything at all more to it. just read it and thank god that there are people like them.

The basic assumption you seem to have is that everybody in uniform is of the same opinion. Like all good members, I/they/we did what we were told to do, it's called following orders. Now, did I agree with everything I did over 30 years.....not on your life. I saw and did some incredibly stupid things because I was ordered too. I doubt that the majority of people in Iraq actually want to be there but are doing the best they can the same way the military has always done.

I truely believe the deaths in Iraq have been in vain as none of the reasons, we the American people were told, have borne fruit in reality. (I do want you to notice I said Iraq and not Afganistan.)

AVB and Rick, most of the guys on that list wanted to be there. Most of them were fighting and died for a cause they believed in. How do I know this?? I have a friend on the list from March 2003. His name was 1st Sgt. Rob Dowdy. He was the chief NCO in Jessica Lynch's unit and she was in his Humvee when he was killed. Rob's widow, Kathy, worked for me at my flower shop for 12 years. Rob moved to San Antonio to finish out his career while Kathy and his 10 year old daughter Kristy stayed in DeRidder waiting for him to finish.

Kathy has lived through horrible grief but continues to stand behind the direction this company has taken. I often hear Bush Haters on this board spout off that President Bush hasn's seen a flag draped coffin come home. I can't address that. I can address the thrill Kathy and Kristy got when the ate lunch with the President at Fort Polk, Louisiana and the hug and genuine tears he shed for her loss. We have a President who cares about the world, who cares about freedom and who cares about the cost our American military pays on a daily basis.

Kathy already knew Rob was a hero but she also realized he was just doing his job. The people you see listed on that page are doing their job. Most of them wouldn't be anywhere else.

And... if you want to see the supreme sacrifice that these American families are paying... I suggest you read this http://www.designsbyjudy.com/sos/dowdy.htm

Cheers,

grond
