Kerry: I'll 'Take on the Terrorists' With Gun Control

Presidential candidate John Kerry promised over the weekend that he would "take on the terrorists" who attacked the U.S. on 9/11 by forcing them to obey America's gun control laws.

Kerry said laws like the Assault Weapons Ban, which expires today, were valuable "not just to fight ordinary crime but to take on terrorists."
And he complained that President Bush was "making the job of the terrorists easier" by not pushing for a renewal of the sweeping gun control law.

"The 9/11 commission and other reports have shown that al-Qaida wanted to come into America, and in the al-Qaida manual of terror, they were telling people to go out and buy assault weapons," Kerry told a crowd in Missouri.

The top Democrat did not explain why the Assault Weapons Ban failed to protect America against the 9/11 attacks, which were executed by al-Qaida operatives armed with small knives.

Nor did Kerry say how many terrorists had been arrested and charged with violations under the Assault Weapons Ban.

LMAO!!!!! Yea that will do it....

Isn't there a law that says you cannot hijack commercial airlines? If not we should get one passed so we don't have another 9-11.

Hog...

Besides, doesn't the Assault Weapons Ban cover Al Quada(?) and other terrorists who may obtain their small arms weapons outside of the U.S.??? That line of reasoning would make sence to Kerry and his bafoons! JMH(Republican)O

Much like the Gore vs Bush debate when Gore was all upset because the guys that killed the man and drug his body behind their car was not brought to justice for a "Hate Crime"! In one of the defining moments of the Bush vs Gore debates, GWB looked at Gore and said, "They got the death penality didn't they"?
Gore turned red, huffed and calmly lost his cool and the debates!

Yes, it is illegal to hijack an airplane and fly it into buildings!

I thought they hijacked the planes with knives not with assault weapons. See the law was working fine.

(I mean that sarcasticly)

Thom,

I don't see your humor... what's funny to me is Kerry is blaming Bush for not renewing the ban.

What confuses me is, couldn't a sitting US SEnator introduce the legislation needed to extend the ban? Doesn't he have anyone on the Rep side to sponser or co-sponser such a thing?

Senator Kerry does nothing, then has the temerity to bitch that nothing is done.

Let me understand correctly. You are giving Kerry a bad time because he's not doing anything, when the President says he'll sign it, but does nothing to push it through? Isn't that being hypocritical of hypocrites?

If I recall my constitution correctly, the legislature makes the law, the pres has the opportunity to sign or veto.

There for, how can a man entrusted with proposing law and not doing so, get away with complaining that the law he supports isn't proposed?

Is Herr proposing that the one who invents the wheel is only the person who got the idea and ran with it after someone else told him he should invent it? This circular logic is making me dizzy.

Thom,
The logic is that Kerry - a Senator with the power to introduce a new law banning assault weapons did not do so. And, after not doing so, blames Bush for not doing it for him. Typical Democrats.

....Just a point of clarification....

There are already two Senate bills on the calendar with the purpose of extending the assault rifle ban. S-2498 and S-2109, both sponsored by Dianne Feinstein of California. Senator John Kerry is not a co-sponsor of either bill.

Senator Kerry has been busy as the sponsor of a number of important legislative initiatives such as, well actually this is the entire list for 2004:

S.2186 : A bill to temporarily extend the programs under the Small Business Act and the Small Business Investment Act of 1958, through May 15, 2004, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (introduced 3/9/2004) Cosponsors (14)
Committees: Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship
Latest Major Action: 3/9/2004 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

S.2266 : A bill to amend the Small Business Act to provide adequate funding for Women's Business Centers.
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (introduced 3/31/2004) Cosponsors (10)
Committees: Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship
Latest Major Action: 3/31/2004 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship.

He did sponsor some important legislation in 2003 such as:

S.1739 : A bill to provide duty-free treatment for certain tuna.
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (introduced 10/16/2003) Cosponsors (1)
Committees: Senate Finance
Latest Major Action: 10/16/2003 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance.

S.1873 : A bill to require employees at a call center who either initiate or receive telephone calls to disclose the physical location of such employees, and for other purposes.
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (introduced 11/17/2003) Cosponsors (7)
Committees: Senate Commerce, Science, and Transportation
Latest Major Action: 11/17/2003 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation.

Usahog,

Do not trivialize the need for duty-free tuna! This is a very important issue to Senator John Kerry. It is so important that the bill was also introduced as:

S.1782
Title: A bill to provide duty-free treatment for certain tuna.
Sponsor: Sen Kerry, John F. [MA] (introduced 10/23/2003) Cosponsors (None)
Related Bills: H.R.3620, S.1739
Latest Major Action: 10/23/2003 Referred to Senate committee. Status: Read twice and referred to the Committee on Finance.

It seems that what has happened is that certain South American nations have more favorable tariff status than certain Southeast Asian nations when it comes to the importation of tuna already sealed in pouches weighing not more than 6.8 kilograms.

The "Fair Trade in Pouch Tuna Act of 2003" as it is titled in both the bills proposed by Senator John Kerry would, in a quantity equal to the amount of pouch tuna imported from the South American nations covered under the Andean Trade Preference Act, eliminate the tariffs imposed on pouch tuna from Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.

Kerry is such a fool, he insists on pushing the blame to everyone but his useless a--! Gee, he could have taken time from blasting Bush and introduced the bill, but no, he had rather second guess one of his positions depending on time and place! Which position does Kerry take, wait long enough and you hear both side s of the issue answered by JfK!

LMAO, God help us he will not win!
