Herf. What is it? Origin? Real terminology or slang or simply a myth?

I have no idea of how or where the word originated. I first saw it on the JR BB. It's just an excuse for a bunch of guys to get together for the express purpose of smoking cigars.

Check out http://www.uk-cigars.co.uk/herfs/herf.htm for a history of "herfin."

Ya, but what does it mean? Is it a cigar, the act of smoking it, or is it unrelated to smokes?

The site davismit refers to above is a great reference. "Herf" originated, as the site states, on the newsgroup alt.smokers.cigars (right?). It's just a loose term to refer to cigar smoking in general. "I'm going to a herf." "Hey, you a herfer too?" "I'm just herfing with friends here on the patio." "Hey, don't herf during the church service." "My wife will kill you if you herf in her kitchen." Get the idea? ....Another term associated with cigar smoking is "crawl". Go to www.cigargroup.com, click on "Crawl" then click on "The Call to Crawl" for a description. Hey, maybe we should come up with our own term that we can say originated here on the c-bid forum!
