I would like to turn a small closet into a small walk in humidor. Does anyone know how to go about this? It's about a 7'x9' closet. I need to know how to insulate, ventilate, what type of wood to use, humidification unit, etc.

Thanks,

Bakery87, how cool does this closet remain yr round?

not sure what part of the country you are in.. but I have a walk-in in my basement.. with it being in the basement I can regulate the temp better, then in winter I have to deal with the humidity or lack there of... I have 5/16" paneling on the walls and sealed the seams.. the ceiling is 12" X 12" ceiling tiles... with a concrete floor (I haven't laid my tiles as yet) this is one of the coolest places in the house... if your closet isn't ventilated to regulate the temp. you will find it hard to keep your humidity steady...

just something to think about...
as far a humidifier I use a regular honeywell with interchangable filters ($5.00) every 2 months I add the PG solution to jugs of water I keep in the room... It gets costly in the winter.. both time and money... soon I will be replacing the walk in with a large cabinet Humi to help regulate things better and cut down on the time consuming efforts Plus free up some space in the room for other things....

Good Luck!!!!

Hog,

I live in the NW portion of the lower pennisula of Michigan (Traverse City).

My home stays around 75 year round, either by air cond, or heat. The closet itself, stays a bit cooler, but can be warmer. I beleive, ideally you would want your humidor around 70*F. Temperature is something I need to consider, but am more worried about the humidity regulation.

I'm going to check out that link posted as well. Hopefully I can figure something out, but I dont want it to be "jerry-rigged". I'd rather take my time to it right. Thanks
