A new study from the University of Maryland supports the thesis that Kerry and Bush supporters apparently live in different universes, complete with different facts and probably different laws of physics. Bush supporters believe it is a fact that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction; Kerry supporters don't. Bush supporters believe Saddam was supporting al Qaeda; Kerry supporters don't. Bush supporters believe most people in other countries approve of the war in Iraq; Kerry supporters don't. Read it for yourself.

Q1 - Of course I believe Sadaam had WoMD ... it's a known fact ... hell, we even helped provide them to him and he USED some of them against his own people. Anyone denying that has their head firmly wedged in the sand. As to the question of few having been found in the course of the last year, consider the spider hole that Sadaam was pulled out of ... a hole that size could contain a quantity of WoMD to take out NYC ... Iraq is the approximate size of California ... how many such holes could there be which are well enough concealed that they have yet to be found? Absence of proof is NOT proof of absence.

Q2 - Not clear as yet ... maybe so, maybe not, but you've just gotta know his heart was with them.

Q3 - There are a great many people in the world who DO approve the action we've taken, many who do not and many who think the jury is still out. The Ivory Soap percentage of every one of those opinions could easily change either way with new developments ... irrespective of that, opinion polls should NOT be the determining factor for our policies ...

I like this post...

This issue is critical in trying to have a rational conversation between conservatives and liberals. It boils down to the fact that both groups have made some basic assumptions about the nature of life and, subsequently, how they form thier values and moral code. I think people make extreme statements (such as "I hate...") based on the feeling that others are trying to force their assumptions and beliefs on them. And... Given the assumptions they have made, their belief system is quite logical, and they cannot see how anybody could think differently.

I have been drawn to reading the posts on this board, and I am convinced it is just because people who obsess about cigars really do share something, even if it is just a very eccentric view of life be it from the conservative side or the liberal side. I keep telling myself, "If you don't like what they are saying, just don't read it..." And, I think I keep reading it, because it is not always what is being said as much as HOW it is said. I have been coming here on a daily basis (give or take) for about 4 years, and some of the names have changed, but there is still a common thread that runs through the group that keeps me and others coming back. One might say, "this is captured in the term, BOTL" and I guess that is true.

I believe this one... having a rational conversation with a liberal is like you and your spouse trying to decide on important issue's the only difference is many times you and she can come to a happy middle...

Men are from Mars,Women are from Venus I think allot of liberals glean more from Venus rather than Mars ;0)

PMoreno, I haven't agreed with much of your political commentary, but on this one, light up a good one and I will too!

God could prove He exists anytime he wanted to, but no one can prove there is no God. That requires the faith of the most devout atheist. The statement that there are no WOMD is unproveable and requires the faith of those devoutly seeking office.
