Hello Group!
I'm very new to the wonderful world of cigars. When you have a double torpedo cigar, how much do you clip off of each end? Thanks for the help.

All cigars have a head and a foot, the head goes in your mouth and the foot is what you fire up. The head has a cap on it the cap prevents the cigar from unwinding do not cut more than 1/16" off the cap.If the foot of the cigar is closed try cutting 1/4" off the foot, if when lit the cigar is hard to draw on cut some more a little at a time until the draw is easy. And always remember Never put your foot in your mouth, LOL. JonR

Opps : checking my CAO Odyssey and Perdomo the Cigar (closed heads) you can cut up to a 1/4" off the head. JonR

I disagree, to a certain extent. On regular cigars, you cut the cap of at the shoulder, just where it begins to curve.

On a torpedo, you cut it where you enjoy it the most. The smaller the opening, the more intense the smoke, as it is funneled through a smaller opening. The larger the openeing, the cooler the smoke ...

I have never cut the foot on a double torpedo. Just light it! I've never had one yet that didn't have a tiny opening, and that is where you will get the most intense flavor of the wrapper. Sometimes that is my favorite part, the first two or three puffs.

A double torpedo is just that: two torpedos. I generally use a meat cleaver, same as when hacking a rooster. Aim for dead center (cross-wise, of course) and swing hard. Voila. Two torpedos. I would still use a regular cutter to clip the heads.

So you can justify the cost on a five pack because it's a ten pack.

You understand exactly, Mr. Mean. Am experimenting with a special double chop technique which will result in 2 torps and a rotschildt: 15 to a pack!
