Steve
Great thread, sorry, been involved in some heavy work projects since Wed! This is all a matter of taste and I tend to be one of the world's great baseball fanatics, so I will give a go based on my favorites:
Sports Illustrated picked Bull Durham as the number one baseball movie of all time, I think it is top group, but I would nominate Billy Crystal's pet project number one:
1. 61, great movie and factual!
2. Field of Dreams, even chicks like this flick!
3. The Natural, a feel good flick
4. Eight Men Out
5. Bull Durham
Worst:
1. Babe Ruth played by John Goodman
2. Fear Strikes Out, ever notice how Tony Perkins throws the ball in this mess of a movie!?!?!
3. Major League, Back to the Minors (I believe this is part III, Major League was good, but the sequals sucked~!!!!!
4. Angels in the Outfield......remake!
5. A whole bunch of bad movies can go here
Special Mention on worsts: "The Scout", "It Happens Ever Spring", "Pastime", etc
Note: I liked "For Love of the Game" (a watchable chick flick-my wife loves it), liked the Lou Gehrig movie with Gary Cooper, loved "Long Gone", and would like to see a movie about the old Negro Leagues that would prove to be half way factual!
