So we don't want to drill in Alaska for oil. Yet we don't want to rely on the Middle East, especially in view of todays situation. "We" don't want to drill even though the two Senators from the state of Alaska are IN FAVOR of the drilling. What is our alternative? Senator John Kerry (D-MA)has the answer: "invent our way out of this challenge". Now why didn't I think of that?

ethanol, electricity. solar energy and i am sure there are more. if we didn't need there oil, who would pay any attention to those idiots in oil land. they don't produce anything. their people live like serfs. the kings and shieks and whatever they call their other rulers are of the manor born and could care less for their people. i believe we saved kuiwat's ass and i don't see any thanks coming from them.

Normally I would be all for us obtaining oil however necessary so as to reduce our dependence on foreign oil. In the case of the Arctic Nat. Wildlife Refuge oil, however, I don't think that it is worth it. According to the reports that I have read, IF there is the maximum amount of oil there that there can be (and this is probably not the case), then there is enough oil there to supply 2% of the US's oil needs for about six months. And this is only after the 7 to 10 years that it will take before we can get any out. To me this just does not seem to be worth it.

Let's see, new exploration equates to new jobs and more money for the USA!!! It is worth it and should be done, but better alternative would be to blow away the Middle East and then rename it New Texas!!! Then we would have all the oil we need!!! Charlie

I like the idea of "alternative" energy sources. But until they are reality vs a science experiment we NEED OIL. I can see it now: Rick is out of cigars and is anxiously awaiting his latest winning bid shipment. It is two days late, so he calls CB. "Oh, I'm sorry Mr. Miller, but we can't ship your cigars out today. Our truck isn't working. It's too cloudy..."

Hydrogen fuel cells! They are the wave of the future. Auto manufacturers have built cars that get 200+ horsepower with hydrogen. We don't need to reduce our dependancy on foreign oil. We need to reduce our dependancy on oil. In fact present day auto engines can be retrofitted to burn hydrogen. Yeah, I know hydrogen production is small at this stage. Why is that though? That's the way the oil companies want it! Change won't happen until either 1. Every drop of oil is sucked out of the Earth. 2. Government makes it happen through economic incentives.

Rick You are partialy right agian on your thoughts about these people... as far as the Oil coming out of there country there is only about 3-7% of Oil from these country's coming to the United States.. the rest goes out to other parts of the world.. as far as the oil resorces in Alaska and our own resorces available but being capped of or not even touched because of Conservation reasons.. as many Jobs have been in America and Put many good working people out of work do to a Spotted Owl or some other Nature Loving Congressman or Senator instead of developing ways to maintain Equality with Nature and Preserve it and still draw on the Resorces Available to the USA... they would rather do the Alternative and Keep the Unemployment System working and tap from everyones retirments to supply the homeless and not so fortunate folks and in turn Blow smoke up there ass about Middle East and why we are there... Russia Has a Larger then ever Oil Reserve and it would be wise to figure out ways to tap it...
As far as the Hydregen (sp) idea that is not to smart.. it is very Volital (sp) and like steam was with the early years hard to keep contained and regulated.. no way in hell would I want to Have a fender bender and Take out a 3 mile raduios becuase my Hydregen car Went Off!!!!!

Laterzzzz

A tank of hydrogen is not a hydrogen bomb. And can you say a 20 gallon tank of gas is not volatile?

why don't we just invade and conquer all these terrorist countries. kick the rullers out. allow americn workers that want to go there and suck all the oil out of the ground we want. it doesn't really belong to them, it belongs to everyone. those dinosaurs didn't die to make the arab countries rich. they died for all of us, at least that's what i read in their diaries.

I might get in trouble for posting this but here goes:
While I approve of George Jr. overall, don't you thin k it's odd that he comes from Texas...used to own an oil company...most of his cabinet are old friends of his father from energy companies...and he supports drilling in Alaska. Now why do think he supports drilling?? You guys really think drilling up there will reduce either our dependance or prices?? GW Jr. is just following texas roots....drill, drill, drill.

If ya look at his prior environmental record.....nuff said...

arbn2/505 never enough said about bush and his inadequacy's. if it weren't for this "war", his dumbness would not be overlooked. i am not a liberal or a conservative, but i am embarrassed that he represents the best usa has to offer. don't bring up clinton or any of that old sh*t without bringing up
"i am not a crook" nixon. here and now. what's with him and cheney and this zealot the soaring eagle singing ashcroft. i'm glad oregon (where there are some damn smart conservatives) have told him to shove his authority where the moon don't shine. i am sure he is the most dangerous of the bunch. his attempt at bringing back the inquisition, first against the nut cases from Afghanistan, and who knows whose next. i can't be a republican because they lie so much they don't know the truth. remember the post i did a while back about all these republican hawks who ducked the military for some bs reasons. i can't be a democrat, because they haven't the ba**s to stand up for anything. i think i will go eat a worm.

Rick, you are more of a Republican than you think, but that is for another day! How can you keep harping on GWB and others and then say "Don't bring up Clinton......."! Clinton and his administration were by far the worst and the biggest set of crooks and sleazes this country has ever had in office! I need say no more! I agree that Ashcroft could become a major problem, and I am sure that at least this President has the balls to do something about it if the time is necessary! While I am a Republican, I cannot stand the Religous Right and think they should be flushed from the Party, but we can deal with them a lot easier than some of the factions that dwell within the Democrats such as Rev Jesse "My Hand is in Your Pocket" Jackson and the whacko enviornmentialist groups that want to lodge themselves in the Democratic Party! Thank God, GWB was elected and not Al Gore! Charlie

Second the motion regarding Gore not being elected there bud. He doesn't have the balls for the $hit that is goin down now. I just wish for 1 candidate that is not only conservative but also liberal (sounds weird, don't it?) Joe Torre for the next election, or maybe Wayne Clarke.
