I don't have a problem with someone playing an "Ordinary German Soldier" but I do have a problem with someone who thinks it's a good family building thing to play a member of the SS on weekends. The SS where a first class bunch of Ass Bags. Much worse than anything that the "Muslims/terrorists/etc... have done. It's my opinion and if you don't like it stick around, I have others.
Yes, because SS units didn't fight during WWII. No, they hung out in the beer halls with their uber-cool uniforms.
This is utterly insane. Seriously.
The whole point of reenacting a battle is make it as realistic as possible. Some of those Civil War reenactors spend thousands of dollars to acquire the actual equipment used during the Civil War. I'm assuming the same is true of the WWII people.
Maybe anyone who has Nazi memorabilia - even those soldiers who actually fought in WWII - should be automatically disqualified from running for office? I dunno.
But you're right. I guess they should have replaced the SS troops with Revolutionary War Hessian soldiers. Because realism isn't as important in these matters as prevailing social and ethnic sensibilities.
