Hey Russell,
When did they stop teaching the constitution in schools???
My girlfriends son knows nothing about the constitution, and he graduates this year.
This is sad.

DITTO Hog and Brew.

Hence a major reason why there is such polarized debate over the 2nd Amendment and why most people don't understand it or it's primary purpose.

Take a glance at my post on the "gun owners rights" thread.

The Constitution and other such important parts of American History are considered Politically Incorrect by many in the ------(you put your word in here) Education Community!

This is very sad and disturbing and should be changed!

Homebrew, I don't know about the constitution in some states school systems?? but here in Illinois it is still manditory to have passed it... now I don't know what the PC history books look like nowadays... but I have a history book from the 50's and compared it to one of my kids books about 7-8 yrs back and I LMAO at how much it had changed.. probably shouldn't have laughed but rather cried... because this is our history being written away!!!!

I looked at a history text abot thirteen years ago, and it barely mentioned taxation and tarriffs leading to the Civil War! According to the revisionist history being taught today, it was all about freeing the slaves! On an even more sobering note, WHY do you suppose the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution are not being taught to our children anymore?

Could it be that "the powers that be" want our young better prepared to be subjugated?

That is the first thing that popped into my head, too.
I worry that the land of the free, may not be so free in the future. Maybe even within our lifetime.

You have groups like the ACLU and most of our current court system to thank for things like this.

I looked in on the ACLJ. Turns out it isn't a resource on constitutional law, but rather a front for Pat Robertson's 700 Club variety of extreme right-wing fundamentalist christians. Letting these jokers in our schools would be like sending your kid to the David Duke Daycare center. You want to see something truly frightening that's taking root in American primary education, check this out:

Truly a scary thought, bringing God into our schools. But of course there is no God and we all evolved from cosmic cr*p. Makes sense to me.

Nothing wrong with a little god now and then. That's what churches are for. Heck, any decent history or psychology class is going to have to broach the subject or end up falling short. But when you get diagnosed with xeroderma pigmentosum or cystic fibrosis (who says god doesn't have a sense of humor), you'll be wanting a physician trained in biology, not metaphysics.

Your Double-entendre on "little god" I don't see your point and never will! No need to reply, enough said.

BTW, the 2nd meaning of a double entendre specifies something indecently sexual.
