Maybe the video is out there somewhere, but I heard the audio on the radio yesterday when *ahem* Nancy *gag* Pelosi (sorry...just saying the name makes me want to throw up a little) was talking about the debate going on with the "Bush" tax cuts. She wants to extend unemployment, not cut taxes, and she made the comment that (paraphrasing a bit) "helping the rich doesn't create jobs, paying unemployment does."
HOLY CHIT...did she really just say that?
I just found the quote....
Quote: "We have to pay for unemployment insurance, we don't have to pay for tax cuts for the rich," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said. "Tax cuts do not create jobs. They haven't throughout the Bush administration. Unemployment insurance creates jobs and does not add to the deficit."
She goes on to say...
Quote:"To those who are standing in the way of this extension, I say: the time to put politics aside is here. The welfare of millions is at stake," she said. "If Congress fails to act on an extension of the UI program 2 million Americans will lose their unemployment insurance by the end of the year. And millions more could join their ranks in the coming months. As a nation, we simply cannot let this come to pass. Politics should never punish those who need help most, and it should never get in the way of sound policy. Congress must pass this important extension. Americans — all of them — are depending on it."
JEEZUS....correct me if I'm not understanding the point she is making, but does she consider sitting on your azz collecting unemployment a JOB?!?! Apparently that's what some [unemployed] Americans consider a job. We try to find people jobs everyday, and people turn them down because they still have unemployment coming, and they keep extending it. Therefore, people continue sitting on their azzes. When do they start looking for a job?? They start looking right when unemployment runs out. Hey...why you looking for a job? "Well, my unemployment ran out...."
