His best performance since his inauguration.

He paid tribute to the fallen with dignity, and he steered clear of the partisan bickering.

Bravo, Mr. President.

I didn't watch it. I figured it would go the way of Paul Wellstone's "memorial."

What little I was able to hear of it was surprisingly "good" considering the source, read: he finally didn't screw something up.

Ditto. Caught quick pieces from news channels. Sounds like the teleprompter was working tonight.

Whoever wrote the speech did an excellent job, as did the president in delivering it.

I thought the title of the post was Obama in Oz.

Talk about heartbreak when I opened it and found out he was still here.

I was surprised, to say the least.

FIrst of all, I've disliked nearly everything he's accomplished or even proposed to date. And by "nearly everything" I mean absolutely everything.

Then, the damn thing interupted the prime time stations and I thought I was going to miss Modern Family (the only show I DVR if I can't watch it).

And to make matters worse, the beginning was more like a rally than a memorial service.

So, with those three strikes plus my genuine dislike for the man, I was shocked when he delivered.
I know many from the right will lambaste him for a multitude of reasons, but he appeared sincere and stoic at a time when it's needed.

So although his handlers propped him up for the photo op and PR, he was able to dignify the moment and offer respect for those lost while trying to squelch the rising tides of hate.

Again, Bravo Mr President.

I didn't watch it. I was probably at work.

But I do have to give kudos to Joe for giving an unbiased opinion. So many people follow the party line so closely that even if the guy pulled kids from a burning bus they'd find fault with it.

If he did a good job, I salute him, too.

It seems a little quick to rush in and give a big speech. The dead aren't buried yet and now the topic is how well did Obama do.

The Secret Service really had to scramble for this one.

All I'm saying is that if you look at the nation's history of nutjob shooting sprees, I don't think you'll find too many cases where the President arrived on scene in 4 days.

After the Columbine tragedy, President Clinton went to a memorial a month later held in a church, not a basketball arena.

I think his quotes were actually from the Psalms and Job. Christian scripture, yes, and Hebrew as well.
