Rookie question... whats your opinion on taking cigars out of their glass tubes for humidor storage?

I've had better luck with tubed cigars by removing them from thier tubes and letting them rest in the Dor for a while. I've had more dried out smokes from tubes than anything else. Barry

Very true ... keeping them in the glass tubes is just for show and transport. You need to remove them and give them proper storage if you want to humidify them ...

don't unpack. stop. leave them in the tubes and smoke them with the cello and/or the tubes on.

Tried that... that's why I had to type the question. My lips were still bandaged so I couldn't call anyone. That's what I get for biting off the tip instead of cutting.

I just opened a five pack of cigars from a cigarbid auction which were packaged in glass tubes to find that all the tubes were broken. Apparently the tubes were broken before they were shipped because they were carefully packed in the outer carton. Maybe they broke on their trip from Esteli Nicaragua. I would tell you the kind of cigars they were but i dont feel like hearing any more urinal cake comments about them. Lets see how long this takes before the first guess.

Sounds like the packer/shipper was on acid?!

I'll tell you right now ... CI/CB would not pack and ship them already broken ... that's absurd.

And just for your info ... they would not come directly from Nicaragua either ... but from their warehouse in PA.

Where do people come up with these ideas? That is, uless it was a joke that went over my head ... LOL!

If a glass tube was sealed with the proper humidity, and stored in proper humidity, would the stick still dry out? Also, if you smoke it, will it dry out?

navnurs: cigars are not packed with the proper humidity. the cigars are shoved in and sealed. putting them in a humidor won't do anything. if you chew the cigars when smoking them, as i do, they don't dry out, they get wet.

Boy... the sense of humor at that warehouse. Why just the other day I was doing a trade and I thought "Wouldn't it be funny if I drove over the package a couple times before I mail it." A hefty Gufaw was had by all.

Thanks for your abrupt reply Slimboner but i wasn't accusing anyone of anything. You really could not tell if they were broken because the tubes come packaged in a wooden box then are wrapped with cellophane. Sorry to offend you.
Whats really absurd is that fact that this BB is your whole life.

Glass tubes do nothing to preserve the cigar. Remove and store "nude" in your humidor.

If you get something from CB that isn't up to your expectations, e-mail their customer service department. They are very responsive and will either replace what was damaged, or give you a credit on your next order. I got the all-star sampler with one of the cigars listed on the description replaced by a different brand. They gave me a credit toward my next order. Gotta love cigarbid.

As soon as my counsel (Jackie Charles) gets done with my 'pointy stem damage to lower gumline' suit, I will inform him of your need for representation.

Freecigars: I received some glass tubed cigars (probably same as yours) and a couple were broken in the sealed box. CB was great about it. Looks like it's the pre-CB packing and the mail carriers playing soccer with our smokes. My most recient tubed arrivals were fine.. in tact, very crunchy with a sharp finish. Cigars are napping naked as we speak.

I'll have you know that its been a whole day with no reply. I am concerned.
I found that the best use for the broken glass is spreading it out on the lawn and hoping that the neighbors dog decides to pay another visit.
The best use for those cigars is spreading them out in the same area to attract the aforementioned dog. 15 bucks well spent.

People who smoke cigars that come in glass tubes shouldn't throw stones, I think that's how it goes or maybe it's shouldn't get stoned, or maybe it's shouldn't name their new baby boy Stone Philips, or crap just forget I ever brought it up. JonR
