A Wisconsin Democrat Assemblyman turned to a Republican Assemblywoman in the middle of a legislative session Friday and said, "You are f--king dead."

Despite the following report from the Northwestern at 12:53 PM Monday, no major media outlet other than Fox News has covered this disgusting story:

The Daily Caller's Jeff Poor on Monday linked to the website of Wisconsin's Newsradio 620 WTMJ which judging by the first comment reported as early as 10:43 AM:

Last Friday.... after the Assembly voted to engross the Budget Repair Bill, Hintz turned to a female colleague, Rep. Michelle Litjens and said: "You are F***king dead!"

In this post-Gabrielle Giffords world, with calls for a new civility, a man that was just busted in the middle of a prostitution sting says "You are f--king dead" to a woman on the floor of the Wisconsin assembly, and America's media couldn't care less.

Despite this being reported no later than 10:43 AM, a Google news search identified that apart from Wisconsin outlets, only Fox and conservative websites thought this was at all newsworthy.

As of 12:30 AM Tuesday, according to LexisNexis, no major news outlets reported this event. Closed-caption records for ABC's "World News," CBS's "Evening News," and NBC's "Night News" also found no coverage of this issue.

Imagine for a moment Hintz was a Republican and Litjens a Democrat.

This likely would have been the lead story for all three broadcast evening news programs as well as the focus of every hour of reporting on CNN and MSNBC with calls for Hintz's resignation.

But much like what happened at ABC's town hall meeting when a survivor of the Giffords shootings said "You are dead" to a Tea Party leader in the audience, our media clearly don't care when liberals publicly threaten conservatives.

Now this standard extends to a male Democrat elected official vulgarly assaulting a female Republican on an Assembly floor.

Makes one think it's journalism that's bleeping dead!

X,

Getting busted in a prostitution sting and opening one's mouth like that to any fellow politician represents bad judgement and a potential impulse control problem. If it was anything other than jest understood by the assemblywoman to be just that, it was dead wrong.

But, why do you automatically jump to the conclusion that "liberal media bias" has anything to do with the matter not being covered by the national media? Everyone doesn't see things in terms of L vs C or R vs. D. And, I don't think it is even in most people's minds. Moreover, is this even "national news"?

Don't get me wrong here. His behavior was highly likely boorish and I am not defending him. But, if you are always looking for mainstream "liberal media bias", don't you think you will always "find" it?

he should be charged with threatening an elected public official.

someone says that to a judge in court and there will be a HIGH price to pay.

Imagine if you will, the immediate howls of indignation from the liberal media had a Republican assemblyman said this to a Democratic assemblywoman.

The fact is, the author is 100% correct. If it was a male rep screaming at a female dem, it would be PLASTERED all over CBS, NBC, ABC, MSNBC, etc. etc....

The media, in FACT, does lean to the left. Decidedly.

Open your eyes and watch it. It's painfully obvious.fog

Not national news, even on a slow day..
It is a matter for Wisconsin to handle on its own, in its own way.

They are the current "poster child' for the anti-collective bargaining craze.

I don't know why people haven't just accepted my idea of raising taxes to solve this problem. Government employees earn more than the private sector in 41 states.

It is nothing unusual, just a natural progression. In many nations around the globe, the best jobs are in the government. The US is no longer any different.

you are so inside the box.

I propose a collective bargaining fee (fee not tax) that is roughly equal to 50% of the total salary of all those the union represents. One time or yearly .... that can be negotiated.

Well let's see. 85% of the money is labor costs and they always whine about it being "for the kids " yet the quality of education is going to pot. Then consider a govt union bargaining with a govt entity....nobody represents the tax pagers. But that is SOP now.....

I think we should let a few states choke out on their poor financial management and go bankrupt. Then we can merge them into neighboring states. We don't need 57 states.

Why can't we just get a 15% flat tax, across the board. No write offs, no forms to file and most importantly... NO IRS!!

The poor folks would pay less than the rich folks and the rich folks couldn't pay crooked accountants to lower their taxable income or dream up other write offs!

And the middle class folks would actually pay less in taxes (hooray!).Applause

Perhaps even better than that would be a national sales tax. Buy a Ferrari, pay a lot of national sales tax. Buy a used Chevy, pay little or no national sales tax. And if you're a millionaire and want to live like a hermit and save all your money, that's fine. It's your money. Keep it all stashed in the cellar if you like, it's nobody's business anyway how much money you have.

Best of all, even folks who get their money illegally are gonna pay taxes when they spend it on diamond grilles, gold chains, and Escalades...unlike now.

No more IRS, no more income tax, no more W2's, no more tax writeoffs and loopholes. Everybody pays according to how much they spend.

It's almost too easy.

The US tax code is the greatest example of government corruption we have and it is perfectly legal. It is so large and complicated because it is constantly tweaked to reward constituents, encourage certain types of spending/investing habits, and curry favor for political purposes. I would never expect to see it convert to a flat tax because politicians would lose an incredible bribery tool. An attempt to change it will be blocked by both sides by saying it is shifting tax burden to the poor or middle class. We will hear cries that it is regressive instead of progressive like our current system. The secondary impact of eliminating the IRS and huge amount of accounting jobs will never even be a factor.

The addition of a consumption tax, national sales tax, or VAT tax has a strong possibility of happening. Just don't expect income taxes to drop much in exchange. We have a massive national debt and recurring deficit to pay off. A danger with too much consumption taxes is that it encourages more cash-only transactions that can be kept off the books. If you are a small business owner collecting 7% sales tax and 13% VAT tax, that is 20 good reasons to keep a cash-only set of accounting books. It happens right now just over state sales tax.
