By less than 6 months.

All we have to do is find someone to write a policy on Old people when we retire. Do you think they'll underwite my heart surgery?

Jack, two weeks ago I was talking to one of our Canadian suppliers, whose mom (in her 60's) needed emergency AND innovative heart surgery. I believe it had to do with valve replacements. I asked her about the wait, cost, and overall quality of care. She practically gushed at how quickly, effortlessly, and FREE this new procedure was accomplished in record time. Her mom's recovering nicely.

She loves America but is sad as to how we've deteriorated on so many fronts from medical care to immigration just to name a few. She said that much of what we've been told about the Canadian system is hyperbole, anecdotal, and just simply lies. She is mid level management/middle class & has no special inside privileges btw. If her mother had had the same surgery here it would have cost her $250,000+ & possibly not covered by our outrageously expensive plans due to it's innovative nature. She would have lost her house. Sound familiar? She also said that Obamacare is but a drop in the bucket that barely covers anything. Much ado about NOTHING.

I grew up in a physician's household where we despised the term "socialized medicine". However, I pay 3x more in monthly premiums for my company's BC/BS policy with a $5,000 deductible that covers less (no prescription, dental, developmental issues, etc.) than I did 5- 6 years ago for one with a $250 deductible that covered MORE. WTH??? I'm having second thoughts about this pos medical system we call the best in the world... I end up paying much more out of pocket but what happens if I should ever go broke? Medicaid? Is that what we've lowered ourselves to? (pardon ending with a preposition)Speak to the hand

Bloody I have two friends that have Canadian family. Mixed comments is what I got.
One with a hip replacement got treated like it was an elective surgery (it was fractured and took them 6 weeks to operate). Others said the preventative care is great its everything past that that is slow. I do agree about the cost here, but part of the problem is the government insurance that pays so little.

My employer actually provides a very good plan, so yeah I'm blessed there. I do pay alot for it and I don't utilize it that much either.

That's what the rest of us want. BUT we're not allowed to go out of state & get bids for the best plan... Our current system is rife with ineptitude, greed, & corruption. That's why the baby bath water will have to be tossed out along with the "baby" (good coverage like yours). We ALL need good coverage for a host of issues which are becoming epidemic- not just a select few with limousine coverage.

Glad you understand what I mean, bro. There's lots of hard working folks out there that just want a fair shake & are afraid the boom will fall on them when least expected.

I agree. Good medical care is terribly expensive I pay $1,800+/month to cover my family with excellent coverage. I hope it won't continue to cost so much, but we all know that it will. Others, who cannot afford good coverage or coverage at all suffer and cost everyone else's care, insurance and taxes to increase. I don't mind paying a little bit in extra taxes to help out others who cannot get coverage or acceptable care. The stories about Canada's system have been mixed over the years. I have heard both good and bad. I don't know what the solution is, but Florida does regulate rates and coverage. Out of state insurers coming in to Florida to increase competition might work, but they should have to got through the same regulatory process as other health insurers. On the other hand, we already have BC/BS, Aetna, Travelers, UnitedHealthcare and several other major insurers. I don't want insurance from some cheaper rinky-dink company that goes belly up or fights the legitimacy of every medical claim. I had covergae like that from Golden Rule20-25 years ago and it sucked. Welcome to the new world order. Buckle up tight. We are going to be on a ride to places Americans never imagined. And, it won't end well.

Jonesie, I was talking to Rambo about a little publicized comet/star that's headed our way & should be (hopefully) passing by in November. NASA apparently knows about it's gravitational(?) effects but will not go into details in order to avoid panic. It is said that this comet was in a specific alignment with certain stars when the quakes/flooding occurred in New Zealand, Japan, and Chile.

It is also said that this "comet" (actually more of a star or planet) will cause further earthquakes & tsunamis which will strike both of our shores & flood our Mississippi region. A thousand foot high (equivalent to 100 story skyscraper) wall of water will swamp California... run MACS, run... and the upper half of Japan will be submerged a la Atlantis.

We will know more within the year. Stay tuned.

Yup, you keep thinking like that while you look at Canada's healthcare system with some jealousy while you and your friends and neighbors are getting screwed in the 'greatest' country on earth. I'm not the enemy bro.

LMAO!! Thanks loads, Stink, but I hemorrhage from medical expenses to my kids that are excluded by insurance. In the meantime, homosexuals who willfully engage in dangerous acts get all sorts of free experimental drugs and seniors get cialis/viagra for free as well. We as a society have our priorities in the WRONG place.

Fuzz, you have a way about you. You could pisss folks off even if you handed out gold bullion bars.Frying pan

The medical industry in USA would cost a whole lot less if the taxpaying slaves would reject the closed shop union AMA and demand free market reform.

But the sheep are still asleeep.
