As I've become more into cigar smoking, my 50 ct. humidor has become quite full. I'll soon have to buy another I guess, but it did the trick for a while. Do you guys have any tips/suggestions on storing cigars side by side? with or without cello? what about smokes in cedar? I've been removing cello and storing side by side (with the exception of acid's etc)...left the cedar on with cello on those.

Matter of preference. For me I usually leave the cello on unless they're Cubans. I've got 3 humidors. 1 for my Cubans. 1 for my "flavored" cigars that has partitions, and 1 for everyone else with partitions as well. I've got digital readouts, with 50/50 and clima-guard crystals. I'm able to keep them constant(including the one I'm always opening)and I usually rotate them about twice a month. Hope this helps...it's been working for me. Remember that cheaper isn't always better when it comes to a humidor.

If the cigars have been properly humidified when you get them leave the cello on, even if there's cedar wrapped in it. I've found it slows the humidity exchange rate in the humidor but that's okay as long as they're in good shape.

If you remove the cello it's not the end of the world either. Over a long time the cigars' flavors may marry a bit.

Of course DO NOT put any scented Tetens or Acids in the humidor for any length of time with non-flavored cigars. I've heard horror stories. Either smoke them ASAP or get another humidor for flavoreds (and even then different flavors will mix if you have more than one type of flavored cigar.

Mean ... I used to have one humidor ... after I bought the second one, MrsS asked "how many humidors do you need?" ... dunno, I answered but it's now up to five humidors, one of which is a 300 cigar unit, two humi-jars and one coolerdor ... now I'm giving some thought to building a walk-in humidor in the closet of the back bedroom I use as a home-office, BUT ... I started with one 50-ct humidor ... gotta give the poor guy a chance ... he's getting ready to make a move up ...

I know. I too was once a single 50 ct humidor kind of guy and thought that was just what I needed. It's good to make a mental note of your state of mind when owning 1 humidor and then reflect on it when you have multiple humidors, coolerdors, and walk ins.

Mean, your mention of the state of mind when getting one's first 50-ct humidor makes me smile ... I guess I must've had the same look on my face that I saw on my next-door neighbor the day he got his ... when he brought it over to show me, he had it cradled in his arms almost like a mother holding a new-born baby and the look on his face was almost as glowing as that mothers face would have been. He was SO excited and couldn't wait to have me show him how to season it ...
yeah, I'm willing to bet I was just about the same ...
oh, and BTW ... treblig6, if you're still following this thread, send me an e-mail ... I'll forward you some info on wallet-friendly humidor sources and some on cigar care ...

I agree, I started with my beautiful little 50ct, it was so nice. Now two additional humidor's and a 100qt coolerdor later I'm still buying and have more than 2 years supply. But I guess it goes with the territory after you hang around this sitelong enough your bound to auction off your car and home just to have a few more cigars!!

I do remember that day I got my first humidor...smiled alot. Now I have four humidors and a couple of jarodors. I also have a good friend who doesn't deal well with the internet so I do all his buying for him. That way I can spend my money and his. He only has two humidors but smokes like a fiend and is always looking for MORE. We both are thrilled to have found CB. Now we keep our humidors filled all the time.
