Speaking of gun control being a 'state's right' - isn't it ironic that the ability to restrict or ban altogether gun ownership within their jurisdictions is one of the very few 'state's rights' issues that liberals passionately support...
Personally, I'm not a states rights guy as a matter of strict principle as those on the right claim to be. The argument has been used for several immoral acts like discrimination, taking away the right to vote, get an equal education, end abortion, etc. and because of that I would never use 'states rights' as a reason to support any argument.
But the issue is presented as a rock hard principle by those on the right, yet abandoned quickly when issues like this, abortion and gay marriage to name a few come up, which makes it an unprincipled stance aka hypocrisy.
I admire the job Booker has done, but using the states rights argument here if that is what he is doing, would be something with which I disagree.
