I am new to Cbid and CI but have been pretty happy with the boatload of cigars I've bought so far. All have been mostly what I know I like with a few singles and 5 packs of things that peaked my curiosity. The one thing that intrigued me the most was the Knockoffs. At first I thought that they would legitimately sell knockoffs but at least they were up front about it. I read the reviews on the Macanudo's as the Hyde Park is one of my all time favorites (I like'em mild-medium). I do base some of my online shopping on reviews as they usually are a better gauge then the well written marketing depts sales pitch. One of the reviewers went as far as to say that you could remove the band off the original and not be able to tell the difference.
So I threw caution to the wind and went against my better judgement and bought the knockoffs. Now I know they aren't going to be an exact replica and you get what you pay for. However, I did expect them to be remotely close. Here is a comparrison of the real and the knockoff. I am going to let them breathe for a month before I decide whether I completely wasted $40 or not. But if it tastes as bad as it looks then I'm going to be pretty bummed. Can't tell the difference?!?! REALLY?!?!

Ok so I have no idea how to post images in here. Sorry guys.

And maybe my green comforter is throwing you off but they don't look anything alike. One has a nice toasted brown wrapper and the other is a pale green. The original is about .75" longer. Of course the construction is lesser on the knock off but I'm going to be amazed if they taste even remotely the same. But who knows, I've been wrong before.

And they came in a cellophane wrapped bundle of 20.

Magellan is a Macanudo knock off that is actually more flavorful than the original IMO and decent constructed. Get them in a corona size. They are also a bundle cigar.

And you act like this is the first time an advertisement lied to you.

Thanks for the recommendations.

And I'm not sure how you think I'm acting like I'm surprised by an ad. I'm surprised by te amount of reviewers who said the cigars were the same. Not even close IMO

I wouldn't hold your breath so to speak. These are our go-to cigar for the golf league, cheap, harsh but doesn't turn the newb's insides out...the green does not go away with age BTW. Not even in the same league as a Macanudo....

I couldn't agree more. Not even in the same league. But I didn't expect them to be. I just thought they would at least resemble the Hyde Park. No idea what the reviewers are talking about. Either fake reviews or they are blind. Oh well I have my grass cutting/snow shoveling cigars for the year.
