Cindy Sheehan Announces to Crowd at Occupy Rose Bowl: ‘I Haven’t Paid My Income Taxes’ in Nearly Eight Years
The Blaze

Speaking at Occupy Rose Bowl, anti-war activist Cindy Sheehan announced before a crowd of protesters that she hasn’t paid her income taxes since her son, U.S. Army Specialist Casey Sheehan, was killed in Iraq in 2004. Sheehan went on to justify her tax evasion by stating that she would not fund “the crimes against humanity” she claims are perpetrated by the U.S. government and military.
It is safe to assume, however, that the IRS doesn’t care what her reasons are, and will likely be knocking on the activist’s door sometime in 2012.

If they don't pursue her, it's a dangerous precedent.

Conscientious objector type thingy.

But I feel truly sorry for her.
Let's face it: she totally lost her mind after her sons' death.
I wouldn't wish that on an enemy.

OK, so she didn't pay. Can't imagine it is enough to send her to jail over- if she were willing to cooperate. Perhaps, she at least filed. Now, she can be lumped in with the wacko tax protesters who stupidly write the IRS to argue that the IRS has no authority to collect income tax. LMAO!

if i were careless enough to fail to protect my sons, and allowed them to be
kidnapped by the federal government and sent to be maimed or murdered in viet nam
because of a whim by a bureaucrat like mc namarra or a stupid general, like westmoreland,
at a time in their lives, 19, when they were not sophisticated enough to realize what was
going on in the world because of the usa, i would not have been much of a father.

not paying my taxes would not have been important enough to think i had revenged them,
and iwould have been a moron to announce it and give the federal government a reason to put
me in jail.

i am neither stupid nor a moron.

Rick,

Happy New Year to you and Toby.

I agree with your sentiment regarding your sons and the Viet Nam-era. My parents opposed that war to the extent that they had a separate savings account so that if my brother or myself was ever drafted, we would be sent to Canada until the war was over. Yet, at the same time, we completed and turned in our selective service cards to stay out of unecessary trouble.

These days, my wife and I don't have such a fund for our kids because we are not in the midst of drafting people in to the military. But, we have indoctrinated them with the concept that they should not draft-in or voluntarily go to war unnecessarily; that they should not consider joining the military unless this country's security and or homeland are truly at stake; they intend to make a life-long career out of their service; the military is the place they can get the absolute best training for their profession (e.g. Trauma Surgeon); or it is absolutely the only possible means to pay for their education.

And, don't regret this one bit.

Now, as to being stupid enough to "get on a stage" and tell the world one has intentionally and illegally refused to pay their taxes, I think that neither of my children understand that behaving stupidly like that will only drag one backwards in life.
