A few weeks ago I bought a 5-pack of a cigar called "Cremosa Cubana" (or something very similar to this). After I finished smoking the first cigar in the bunch I began to feel very dizzy and extremely sick to my stomach. I initially tossed out the idea that it was the cigar - maybe just lunch or something else. A few days ago I grabbed another one of these death sticks out of my humidor and fired it up hoping to sit back and relax after a long day of work. The only relaxing I did was in front of the toilet bowl and flat on my back sick as hell. I have no doubt now that it is the cigar that has made me sick twice. Is this something that anyone else has experienced? If so, does it happen often? I assume that you get what you pay for, and I was setting my self up for disaster by buying a "bargin bin" cigar, but is this something that should be happening at all? I was hoping to get some opinions and info on this issue....Thanks.

My brother experienced something along that line while we were trolling for Rainbow Trout in Utah. Only, he was smoking a Lone Wolf Pyramid. He put it out, and we went to shore while he 'composed' himself, and then we went back out. He re-lit the stick ... and the same thing happened all over again. That was the only stick in the bunch that had that affect, though ... the rest were great! I think it was him ...

Experienced a very similar reaction. While smoking an unnamed cigar my wife said I was turning GREEN....the cigar didn't taste great but I felt OK. She made me put it out and said my color slowly came back......maybe she just didn't like the cigar!LOL

I have had a similar experience. It was from smoking a ISOM Bolivar Belicoso....Frankly I think it was just a really STRONG cigar and I hadn't smoked that day. The nicotine went right to my head and I got as sick as a 10 year old smokin' behind the barn. Lots of nicotine in some sticks. I heard a story once that if a grown man were to swallow a cigar butt the nicotine content would be enough to kill him (or make him wish he was.) Maybe this is it. I would hate to think it was (heaven forbid) pesticides!

A friend and I had the same reaction from smoking a ISOM Bolivar Belicoso..He got pretty sick for a day or so, and I wasn't feeling too hot afterward..Course, I'm sure it didn't help that it was my second cigar that day (At the time, I was a one-a-day cigar smoker)...and we all know how STRONG those ISOM Bolivars are..WOW!

I too have experienced this. I was smoking a Indian Tabac Habana 2000 Teepee right out of the package recieved from CB. Didn't get too sick though, but felt dizzy, sleepy and unconfortable for about one hour. Maybe this happens with "green" cigars, 'cos after sitting in the 'dor for a couple of the months the same cigar has been OK (if not good) to smoke.

I did a little more research into this subject and came up with the following. If the tobacco that is picked to make a cigar is not properly aged and fermented before being rolled into the cigar shape, many dangerous chemicals including ammonia are released when the tobacco is burned. If the tobacco is properly fermented (or sweated as also called)the chemicals are released from the tobacco and are not there when smoked. It seems that during the late 90's during the so-called "cigar boom" here in the U.S. many less than reputable (and even some big name manufacturers) would rush the tobacco curing process to get their product to the shelf ASAP. I pesonally believe this is what happened in my case because I have smoked cigars in the past that would make the one that made me sick seem extremely mild in the case of relative strength. Still, it could have been that the cigar was "a little more than I could handle", but I don't think so. If you want to find anymore info in the subject of unproperly fermented or "green" tobacco, I found lots of good information at a local library in THE COMPLETE IDIOTS GUIDE TO CIGARS.
