Better Cigar Burning

I was looking at another website's Forum board and there were posts about placing poorly burning cigars in a "dry box" for a couple of days before smoking. My assumption is that this is a standard cedar cigar box, or is there more to it? Unless you have a real bon mot, spare me the unenthusiastic female anatomy metaphors. Much too obvious.

Sounds like jr took offense before we had cast the first arrow. Mellow and enjoy the comraderie and sense of humor this forum offers and the sarcastic crew we love.

Place them in a cedar box or old humidor with no humidification element for 5-7 days (most climates, obviously less time in Arizona, etc.) The dryness will pull the humidity out of the cigars causing the tobacco to contract and, hopefully, create a better draw.

mtsheron, no offense taken at all. I enjoy sarcasm, irony, and even vulgarity as long as they are laced with some wit. Some folks just can't resist the obvious and I wanted to avoid it in this case. I have no control over what anyone posts, so if you can't resist, knock yourself out.

Some of my best laffs of the day have come off this and another cigar BB, usually posted by trouble makers, smart asses, and ex-class clowns, such as Rick, X, Mean, and the others (you know who you are). If they ever stop, these threads will be a lot shorter and a hell of a lot more boring. So, just stash them in a female lawyer for a few days.

jr.......loosen up, you will eventually get your answer among our knowledgable group of cigar lovers. I find this hillarious and entertaining. And I know what your thinking, I must be of low intelligence but I am not. You see........when the weekend comes for myself and these other professionals who frequent this board we need a channel to let our frustrations out and this is the place doing what we do best....giving a personal anedote and being vulgar at times. I spend my week working federal cases concerning RICO Acts and money laundering and need this kind of company to bear another week. So have a beer and a Perdomo2 for me and everyone here who enjoys comedy and slight of tongue at it's best, afterall....it's free!

I never assumed any of you were less than intelligent. I also find it amusing that some of you are getting worked up about this since, again I have no control over what anyone posts. I just wanted a quick answer to a question without having to wade through a lot of rather obvious humor. Sorry to have disturbed your diversions. Now really, if you guys are educated as I believe you are, is wit really a bad thing? (No, I don't think I'm always witty, I often fall short of that, but I try). Yes, wit takes a bit of work, but it doesn't preclude vulgarity or even utter crudity, witness Lenny Bruce. Life is too short to get into flamefests with people I don't even know, I can get that in real life. Now that's the best I can do, if you want an even more abject, grovelling apology, e-mail me at [email protected] and I'll try to come up with something.

Seriously now jr, i never write anything intended as a flame. Some of us are rowdier than others, but we are all just funnin each other. Once i took umbrage at something that was posted on another BB and a whole long thread kept growing with everyone taking sides. The mix of serious and hilarious posts turned out to be so much fun that i ended up being grateful to the jerk ;o) who had posted the topic that had aggravated me so. None of us really know each other, we are all different ages and backgrounds, and all of us would be more polite in person, probably, except maybe Slimboli. i personally would rather have a funny insult thrown at me than be ignored, although that Voltaire post of yours was definitely out of line! That's my Sunday morning sermon. Instead of passing the collection plate this morning, I am asking that everyone reading this send me your best cigar, especially jr who owes me a huge apology. *******Note from Bonz: this post is a hoax done by someone who is impersonating eleltea.

A drybox is a humidor without a humifier. A cigar box will also work fine. Depending on your personal preference and how wet the cigars put into the drybox are, it may take 2 or 3 days or 2 or 3 weeks to reach an 'ideal' smokeable state. This time may be influenced by the number of wet cigars in the box, as the drier ones will tend to draw moisture from the wetter ones. Be a little more careful if you live in a dry climate or in a de-humidified home.

Voltaire is an insult and Schopenhauer isn't? Couldn't you have at least compared me to Robespierre or someone fun? Anyway, I do sincerely apologize. I tend to be too sensitive. I haven't got the hang of these BB's that operate without society's normal behavioral restraints. eleltea, if you'll send me your address, I'll send you a cigar as a "peace pipe" offering. Seriously. [email protected] Thanks for the answer for my Q.
