Army nixes Nugent from lineup at Fort Knox concert after Obama comments
Published April 22, 2012

The U.S. Army has nixed Ted Nugent from the lineup at a Fort Knox concert scheduled for late June, after the outspoken rocker made controversial remarks about President Obama.

The decision comes after Nugent met with Secret Service officials Thursday -- the Service said at the time the issue had been "resolved."

But the Army went on to cancel Nugent's performance set for June 23 at the Fort Knox annual summer concert.

"Co-headliners REO Speedwagon and Styx remain scheduled to perform," a statement on the Fort Knox Facebook page said. "However, after learning of opening act Ted Nugent's recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation."

Organizers are offering refunds, though the statement said they may find a replacement for Nugent's act.

Nugent, who recently endorsed GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney, said during a recent National Rifle Association convention that the Obama administration was "vile," "evil" and "America-hating."

He also said that if the president is re-elected, "I will either be dead or in jail by this time next year."

Nugent later said his remarks were not a call to violence

WANGO ZE TANGO!!!

Devoid of all common sense the US Army has now bowed to the Teleprompter in Chief!

WTF is wrong with Uncle Teddy's booking agent? Why in the world would he perform on the same stage as REO and Styx...unless he was wearing a tutu and make-up!Gonz

The US Army has better things to do than listen to Ted Nugent sing anyway. The US State Department recognizes 194 countries in the world. Surely we can find a few that need destabilizing.

I saw him at Britt last summer.

He fugging rocked the house (and paid a large fine for exceeding decible limit and going past the music curfew). Also made fun of California. I love Uncle Ted.

Sorry about your tastes TW. At least you like having friends like me so your tastes arent all bad.

I like Ted. Saw him open for kiss. Left after Ted and half way through the kiss set.

Weird story. The show was at a rinky dink place in Dubuque. My buddy drank the better part of a fifth and went outside to puke.

Security would not let him back in. He found a side door and came in as they were tearing down teds equipment. He was onstage. One of my other buddies snapped a picture of him while a roadie rolled a giant amp past him stenciled Nugent.

They then through him off stage and he got hurt. That's why we left early.

Ted was way better than kiss.

All that aside whether you rail against a D prez or an R if you are a public figure expect repercussions. I'd guess Ted doesn't give a **** while the Dixie chicks prolly cried. That's the only difference.

Sorry...big difference between those 2.

Please...show me where his comments are inaccurate or wrong. The Secret Service umm...didn't have anything to press charges.

I'm all for Freedom of Speech and it's a pendulum that swings hard both ways. Say something stupid and expect the backlash kinda stuff.

Sorry, but the erosion of civil liberties trumps whatever the Dixie Chicks mewl about.

No charges against the Dixie Chicks either and they didn't say anything inaccurate. The both just rambled against a sitting prez. The both lost some business. Meh.

They are the same other than Teds rant was filled with more testosterone.
