Hate-Filled Screeds Appear on Mia Love’s Wikipedia Page
Thursday, 30 Aug 2012 12:56 PM

By Patrick Hobin

The Wikipedia page of Utah congressional candidate Mia Love was vandalized after she gave a rousing speech Tuesday night at the Republican National Convention, Fox News reported.

Love, 36, who received rave reviews for her speech and is a rising Republican star, had her Wikipedia biography strewn with racist and sexist epithets, Fox News reported.

Love, who is black, was called a "dirty, worthless whore" who sold out to big business, and a "sell-out" to the "right wing hate machine." Another comment accused her of being exploited "like the House N----- she truly is."

Love, a Mormon, is the mayor of Saratoga Springs. In her speech, the daughter of Haitian immigrants told her family story and criticized President Barack Obama, saying his policies “have failed us. We’re not better off than we were four years ago. And no rhetoric, bumper sticker or Hollywood campaign ad can change that.”

Her four-minute speech helped her raise more than $100,000 for her bid to oust Rep. Jim Matheson, a six-term Democratic incumbent, the Salt Lake Tribune reported.

Democrats and liberal media outlets have ridiculed the GOP in the past for being non-inclusive when it comes to race, and have virtually ignored the diversity of speakers at this year’s convention in Tampa, according to Fox.

The convention so far has featured several Hispanic and black speakers, including former Democratic Alabama Rep. Artur Davis, Love, Texas Senate candidate Ted Cruz, Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval, Gov. Susana Martinez of New Mexico, and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice.

Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida is to speak Thursday night.

Rich Noyes, research director for the conservative Media Research Center and senior editor with Newsbusters.com, told Fox News, “There's been this undercurrent in the media that the Republican Party has a diversity problem, that they're not reaching out to minorities. It's been something you've heard about for months. Well, this is the Republican Party reaching out. If they're reaching out and nobody covers it, who's seeing them do it?"
