If the third party is more conservative, then it's a vote against the GOP.
Conversely, if they're more liberal, then it's a vote against the Dems.
Ross Perot stole the election from George HW Bush.
Ralph Nader stole it away from Gore.
I voted for Perot. Because it WAS the economy, stupid.
His 18% showing was a hopeful sign for third parties in the future, but alas it wasn't to be.
The best thing we can realistically hope for from a third party is that it brings BOTH parties away from their extreme base and forces them into the middle where most of America claims to be.
