I try to keep my whole house at 70 degrees and 70RH all the time so my cigars won't go into shock when I take them out of the humi. Then I realized, when I light them, the heat from the lit end is probably driving the humidity in the leaf below 70%! It may be counteracted somewhat by my mouth moisture on the other end, but I am really concerned that as I smoke the internal humidity of the cigar may fall below 70.
I have thought of using an atomizeur or one of those plastic spritzers from Walmart between puffs. Should I use half and half in the spritzer or just distilled water? Should I use a double spritz or a single?
Does anyone make a hygrometer that I can insert in the cigar, sort of like a cooking thermometer into a turkey, to check it as I go? I think it would be a good idea to build a hygrometer into each cigar, just like those Butterball turkey plastic thingies, that would pop-up when the humidity got down into the danger zone, you know, like, god forbid, 68-69RH. You don't think I am being to fanatical about this . . . do ya?
