eleltea,This looks to be old news if not in fact bogus news. If you go here http://www.senate.gov/ you will find that that HR# refers to internet gambling. If you go here http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d107:h.r.03456: This is a bill H.R.3456 that does deal with internet sales of cigars.Go to the first site and type in a few keywords you might have an interest in,you'll have loads and loads of fun. Enjoy.....LOL....OH BTW don't worry these idiot Dems are always up to this sh*t.I doubt we have much to worry about with GW in office.Gore? I would have been sweatin' bullets a long time ago.

Of course, the Democrats are only looking out for our best interest and that is why they are democrats! F--k them and keep their noses out of our business! I am sure that this great Indian Tabac Teepee that I am smoking was ordered over the internet and I will continue to do so! Charlie

I do hope the bill is dead, and I had heard that the bill number given might be wrong, but you can count on California crazies to keep trying to make possession of tobacco a felony. BTW, I am a native Californian, and miss it bad, except for the tobacco hysteria and the freeways, but currently living in D/FW.

any one democrat, republican, naderite, or any one who wants to ban cigars on the internet. first ban bannrs that flash and sparkle. next banners that just flash.
and after everything annoying on the net has been banned, ban any legislative body that wants to ban anything.

Rick, you sound a little like Jerry Rubin sometimes. I liked Jerry. Is he still active out there?

I think that the bill referenced is called the "Cigars Are No Safe Alternative Act"--I forget the Senate and House reference numbers, but last session it had been stuck in committe in both chambers. Not only will it prohibit internet cigar sales, it will prohibit any cigar sales that allow self-service to the consumer, such as selecting smokes from a walk-in retail humidor.
I don't think that it's a high priority for Congress.

Congress is trying to pass the bill to prevent Clinton from buying his (and Moanicas) cigars here at Cbid, I believe the handle he uses here is "tailgator".

Jeeeeeeeze, I think you're right, Joe. Even worse, the name I am trying to remember is not Jerry, it's Irv. Irv Rubin of the JDL. No wonder Rick probly wondered what the hell I was talking about. Maybe my earlier remark makes more sense now, Rick? Gettin old. Glad to see Irv is still alive and kickin ass. He must be gettin old too.

Geesh. if, and assuming, such a bill exists, it's going to cause me to go Chuck Heston on that politically correct inept politician who proposed such a farcical intrusive outrageous violative cerebral fart to occur. haven't these politicians (regardless of their ideologies) got better things to do??? as the little kid said to Shoeless Joe Jackson, say it ain't so!!!!

i believe Nancy Pelosi (a democrat), and flaming "do gooder" who knows best for everyone (also whom i believe to be the person who actually and amazingly proposed recent legislation to ban the sale of sodas in schools) is part of this (equally) absurd movement.

I stand corrected; it wasn't Barbara Boxer's and Dianne Feinstein's buddy, Nancy Pelosi who was behind the no soda issue, it was California State Sen. Martha Escutia, of Montebello (nonetheless, still amazing).
