So, like which Pop Tarts are the best, man?

Sorry, could not resist a little doper humor . . . . .

WTF are you saying??? d'oh!
CO Tobacco Tax: 40%
CO Marijuana Tax: 15%
And I prefer doughnuts over poptarts.

People wanted the Big "O" and they voted for the Big "O".
Don't come crying about more taxes now. It's what he said he was going to do from the beginning... destroy democratic America - the land of the free (no pun intended).

You didn't build that. You didn't earn it. So why should you care if it's taxed more?

Just ask any self reliance professing, ayn rand hugger whether they're going to refuse to accept those social security, medicare, unemployment benefits, if/when they qualify for them.

God bless ayn rand, oh wait, she was an atheist.

So because I'm a Libertarian, I shouldn't get my money back because to do so would be "selling out", right?

The problem that Libertarians have with these programs is the fact that they are not voluntary. And the way that they are managed also makes them unsustainable.

I think that what pdx is saying is that you nor most of us would walk away from benefits offered despite our (Libertarian) "principles". The reality is that we've voted them in as a social parachute and they'll be around as long as we can sustain them.

Just saw Cinderella Man again the other day. The inspirational story of the comeback boxing heavyweight of the 30's. There's a scene where Jeffries returns his "welfare" (approx. $330) after he gets into the black again. How many of us would be willing to do THAT in this day and age? Not many. We talk a good story but have short term memories while eating at the "freebie trough" like everybody else.

Oh, really? Here's an excerpt from something I posted in this forum a couple months back.

For those who didn’t understand that my original post was parody, let’s set the record straight.

Yes, I’m barely keeping my head above water. I believe our President and his policies have contributed to that, but it is only speculation.

I really did take a 60% cut in pay over the past four years in order to keep the doors open.

No, I did not close down my business, and have no intention to do so until I make the permanent move to NC, and find gainful employment elsewhere. I’m responsible to provide for me and mine, not others.

I may very well qualify for food stamps, but wouldn’t even think about applying.

I’m still a dyed in the wool Libertarian....

Though you may not be able to comprehend it, some of us really do have principles.

Come on dude, you knew exactly what I meant. Others are not responsible to provide for me. Even though things are tight, I still give a good portion to food banks, homeless shelters and rescue missions, as God wouldn't expect any less of me, but you already knew that too.

I believe you are a man of principle, dpnewell, and sincerely pray that everything turns around for you in 2013.
Everyone needs a helping hand or opportunity at one time or another. The unfortunate thing is that opportunities are becoming rarer and rarer for many segments of society. I suspect that much of this is by design.
