Smoking a cigar to the "nub"

When one smokes a cigar to the "nub" how far down is that for you? 1 1/2in. 1in. , 1/2in. or when you can feel the glow on your lips! Mine is 1in.

Yeah, I was thinking about that today...not yo'dead soldier' to rest. I usually say "when" when there's not much to think about. That's anywhere between the firsy puff -- can't stop thinking about those lousy Legions -- and not much to hold...even with a toothpick. Saw a fancy cigar holder in a catalog a day or so ago. Roach clips come to mind. Or stuffing the 'leavings' in a pipe bowl. You could always let those finger nails grow out a little longer. Okay, thought enough about that...time to set it aside.

The Bolivar I smoked last week was so good, I smoked it past the nub, down to about minus one-half inch. will have to smoke left-handed for a couple weeks. but i am used to that, reading e-chicks posts.

for me, the "nub" varies from cigar to cigar ... there are those that become nubs with an inch or so on them and of course there was one really awful stick a month or so ago that became a nub at about 3" in length ... but others, like a beautiful dream, require me to get every possible puff of goodness and for those, I've been thinking maybe the well-being of my fingers requires that I buy a "roach-clip" ...

When It gets to hot to handle I pierce a wooden toothpick in it, Freddie the Freeloader style and puff till the toothpick burns thru
In polite company I place it in a black bakelite holder that I just found at my local shop made by Te-Amo and about 3 bucks.
I havent seen them around for20 years so I picked one up

You just need me to hold it for you...my fingers are more slim and delicate...actually I smoked the few I've enjoyed down to about 1 1/2". Someone told me to put it to rest when the quality of life just isn't quite as good anymore...then, let it die a natural death.

The cigar industry suggest one only smokes half a cigar then discard.........however, both you and I know we will go a little further! Sorry to hear about your 1 incher.....I thought I had a complex about that.........ha ha ha!
