The reactionary photo, after everyone skeptically called BS on his claim that he goes shooting all the time, seems staged. Shooting low & poor form, etc . . . Rant Off.

Don't know about this one either way.

If he says he's shot guns, but there is no photo, there is no proof.

They post the pic, then it is staged.

He can't win either way.

Staged photo.

Like Kerry walking into a general store and saying, 'I'm here to get me a huntin license' to show he's just a regular guy, Obama needed to show he's a red-blooded gun enthusiast like so many other Americans. It's all for show.

On the other hand, better to take a couple of staged shooting photos and be done with it, than accidentally nearly whacking somebody while quail hunting...

Call the cops! Metrosexual with a gun!
The polls made him do it.

At 12 yo, I had much better form than that.

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Vice President ****** Cheney accidentally shot and wounded a campaign contributor during a weekend quail hunt on a friend's South Texas ranch, local authorities and the vice president's office said Sunday.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/POLITICS/02/12/cheney/

Cheney was shooting a 2 3/4" 28 gauge Perazzi O/U with a 3/4 oz. of #7 1/2 shot load. A typical duck load would be say, a 12 gauge with 1 1/4 oz of #4 steel or alloy shot in a 3" shell. I'm thinking the guy would have had much less chance of surviving being shot in the upper torso at the same distance, supposedly about 30 yards, with what is a much heavier duck load.

Anyway, I'd say the real moral of the story is...whenever you are shooting any kind of gun, be really f-ing careful.

It would have looked better if it was a 9mm held sideways.

I read at a different website, this was taken in December on a Friday in a small town in CT as step one in getting guns out of America. THe quote was something like ..... Breaking eggs to make omlettes.

He's from Chicago!!! He has his friends hold his guns for him.
Would have been better if the dunce shot himself. Can't hit any of the targets he says he's going to..

Supposedly the meta exif data shows the photo was taken on his birthday, but somewhere I also saw that the WH posted a photo of him on the golf course that day. Not sure what to make of that, though. What I am certain of is that he shoots like a girl.

just a couple of odd features of the photo

it is a shotgun, yet he is shouldering and aiming like it were a rifle
The over barrel appears to have a blank adapter attached while the under has no apparent extended choke tube installed
aiming awful low to be shootin skeet (maybe he was trying to impersonate Cheney?)

I bet Sarah Palin knows how to shoot much better than Obammy.

Obammy obviously has no experience with weapons or as an executive,
or military commander, with budgeting, etc. He sure can spend $$, though.
Just like my gf. d'oh!

LMAO! Ever wonder how much that cost him?
And, WTF was a VP doing walking around in fields/brush with a group of guys who have shotguns? Secret service couldn't have stopped any of them from blowing his head off...

Exerpted from Wikipedia:

"The ****** Cheney hunting incident occurred ... when then U.S. Vice President ****** Cheney shot Harry Whittington... while participating in a quail hunt. ...

Both Cheney and Whittington call the incident an accident.Early reports indicated that Cheney and Whittington were friends and that the injuries were minor. Whittington has since told ... that he and Cheney were not close friends but acquaintances and has not said if Cheney apologized....

Harry Whittington said, "Accidents do and will happen – and that’s what happened". ...
Secret Service agents and medical aides, who were traveling with Cheney, came to Whittington's assistance and treated his birdshot wounds to his right cheek, neck, and chest. An ambulance standing nearby for the Vice President took Whittington to nearby Kingsville before he was flown by helicopter to Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital in Corpus Christi. ...

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department... issued an incident report. According to the report, the shooter (Cheney) "was swinging on game," that is to say, turning to track it with his gun. The summary of the incident given was: Whittington downed a bird and went to retrieve it. While he was out of the hunting line, another covey was flushed and Cheney swung on a bird and fired, striking Whittington in the face, neck and chest....

Whittington was injured in the face, neck, and upper torso. Whittington was reported to be in stable condition at Corpus Christi Memorial Hospital and had been moved from intensive care to a "step-down unit"... Doctors had decided to leave up to 200 pieces of birdshot pellets lodged in his body rather than try to remove them....

[While still hospitalized,] Whittington suffered a minor heart attack and atrial fibrillation due to the shot pellets lodged in or near his heart. Additionally he experienced a collapsed lung. He was immediately moved back to the intensive care unit.... Whittingon underwent a cardiac catheterization test to detect blocked or leaky arteries. From the test, doctors found a single lead pellet. (That's all. Just one teeny-tiny little pellet... It was so very minor LMAO!!!)

Whittington was subsequently discharged from the hospital. ...At a press conference, he said: "My family and I are deeply sorry for everything Vice President Cheney and his family have had to deal with. We hope that he will continue to come to Texas and seek the relaxation that he deserves." ....:-&

The incident hurt Cheney's popularity standing in the pollsAccording to polls on February 27, 2006, two weeks after the accident, ****** Cheney's approval rating had dropped 5 percentage points to 18%. (Now we know why voters hated Cheney.)"

Funny, but in all the times I have been skeet shooting, I don't think my shotgun barrel has been parallel to the ground when I fired. The clays usually go up. Gotta give my wife credit...after our Congressman challenged him to go shooting, she said pics of the Messiah would show up with him and his trusty gun.
