As the use of drones rose over the last few years I thought it was inevitable as it is safer for the pilots and a cost savings.

Then last week I saw a news article about the military testing their new drones, which in fact are automatons, not drones. This is enevitabal too, but much more disturbing. If the military tells us about it in a news article, that means they have had them for sometime and they are more advanced and numerous then they tell us - which is SOP.
What disturbes me is autonomus thinking machines and their coming proliferation as armed weapons.

When I think of the changes we faced from the industrial revolution, and then the computer revolution, I feel just a bit uneasy about the revolution of intelligent machines. And it seems to be getting her fast. This could make the fist H-bomb look like a tinker toy.

Oh, and the government is going to spy on whomever they like.

I know is sounds like bat**** crazy sci-if stuff, but it looks pretty real to me.

I believe man will create intelligences that equal his own. It is in our nature.
And may God help us all when we do.

Drones win the logistical argument - cheaper, safer, some day faster and more resilient.
It's a tool we'll never let go of. And we seldom ban a weapon on moral grounds.

Coming soon to your neighborhood: ground based automatons to provide urban passification.
If they could build ED-209 they would. And when they can build them, they will.
And they will tell us they are there to keep us safe . . .

9 was for 7 but I would apply it to 8 as well.

Yeah I doubt it will be revisited, however domestic use should be limited to search and rescue missions.
