suggestions for travel humidors

I like the look of CI's travel humidor deluxe (black tube...holds 5-8, but its $49. The bulldog cigar guard looks similar, same size but its only $17. My concern for this is the humistick humidifier.....never tried one. What say you gentlemen? Anyone have one or both of these?

I've used a humistick in a small humidor with very satisfactory results

My personal preference is the Otter Box. It has a humidification device in it and your smokes don't roll loose in it. I haven't used the humi sticks but they look worth a try. Barry

I have to agree. The Otterbox is the one for me, and I have tried many different ones. I have the small one (5 stick) that I carry with me for everyday use, and the large one when I travel for any lenght of time (24 sticks).

Another good one is the Csonka Travel 'dor, for a more 'upscale' look ...

I can't seem to get into the 'tubes', because of the shape. They seem to roll around too much, and are hard to store.

The Otter box is good,so is the Don Salvatore traveldor.It holds about a doz gars,depending on size.I got mine for $10.00. It comes W/humidifier and hygrometer. Also good is the Cigar Daddie. It comes in various sizes. It is also water proof. X

I have a "Traveldor" brand box type. Has a great humidification device (probably better than any I have received with a regular humidor). Holds 8-10 smokes, molded plastic. Don't think they sell it here, have seen it for as high as $25 in the Thompson's catalog, but I got one at a local store for $15

I like the Sherman travel humidors.I have the deluxe 30 cigar model,comes with a humidifier and electronic hygrometer.Very simular to the cigar caddies but I think the foam trays in the Shermans are far supperior and they have a pressure valve on the to release the pressure after taking it on a high altitude flight.
Do a google search for same,they have different models and sizes the one I have is about a $100.Except I have a buddy who can get em for ya for about 25%-30% off of that sites prices. If you are truly interested you can email me for his site and phone #(the deluxe 30 = $70). [email protected]

I just use an appropriately sized tupperware container with a small humidification device. I just make sure to fill it full so cigars dont roll around. Works great and is cheap (like me). Barry

I use an 80 year old Sherpa guide who has a large humidor chest strapped to his back... works great and with the large selection I keep I can always find the right cigar for the occasion. Plus he's handy whenever I find myself lost in the Himalayas!

i'm not sure what you all's meaning of a travel humidor. for a day, a weekend or a couple of weeks. for the day i use three of the sets of 2 metal tubes in a black leather case that i bought on cbid. that gives me six in the car and one in my mouth. in the glove compartment along with the med's that people of my seniority carry i have a bunch of crappy cigars in those plastic humiseales that taste just as good today as they did a year ago and will next year. next to my lazyboy i have 4 cigar jars with different cigars. toby brings one of the evening good cigars from one of the 6 humidors and we start a movie. what's the point of having a remote if i have to get up several times to get another cigar, it would not be fair to toby to have her get up several times during a movie. when we go to vegas, i have one of those fancy, expanding shopping carts on wheels to hold the 6 or 8 cigar jars, the 2 (minimum) boxes of empty cigars, and the various cutters, lighters and individual zip locks(vegas is hot and dry) and some 5 pack zip locks for the monte series V and some other secret super smokes. sometimes i even pack a change of underware.

I reccomend the otterbox as well, I have two of the large for long trips, and one of the small ones. A couple details left out above, they are waterproof to 100ft and have a pressure release. These are great travel humis!!

Don't forget they are practically indestructible too. I dropped mine in the parking lot at work at quitting time ... and a fellow worker ran over it. It didn't even faze it ... just a couple of scratches.

cwilhelmi ---never more than one at a time.--if i am awake 8 hours, probably 6 or 7, sometimes 8.--a two hour cigar if we are watching a movie. a cigar that can be relight at least 7 times if we are going from store to store shopping. a monte V at twilight while i watch the sky get dark, no sunsets in calif, and the hummers flock for there last feeding.

Rick, no sunsets in California? You must live in a hole or something! We have the most beautiful sunsets in the world on the Coast! You need to drive to the beach area or along PCH about Sunset! Go to Inspiration Point in Cornoa Del Mar and watch the Sunset over the Pacific...........it is like heaven! Charlie

Charlie, the sunsets in California are downright ugly compared to the incredible sunsets in west Texas. A jaw dropping experience in my book. Especially in Big Bend.

Charlie -- in whittier, we have no sunsets. you are lucky to live where you can see one. ---hawaii has the best sunsets i've ever seen. they last for hours.
