Socialists everywhere always bleat the same mantra when their wealth redistribution policies fail. They claim that:
1. The wealthy avoided paying their fair share of taxes, thus depriving the government of sufficient funds to fully implement their socialist agendas
2. The socialists simply didn't have the political capital to legislate adequate redistribution policies to sustain growth through redistribution of wealth.
In the USA you hear 'the greedy rich don't pay their fair share' refrain and cries that the Republicans are foiling the altruistic legislation needed to stimulate the economy by taking wealth from one segment of the population and giving it (in exchange for votes) to another.
Socialism never works well for very long. As Margaret Thatcher accurately observed, the problem with socialism is that sooner or later you run out of other people's money.
Maybe cruise through Detroit some time, preferably after dark and admire how well spending other people's money has worked out when there isn't any money left to redistribute.
