Have we surpassed the weekly quota of newbies? I've been a lurker as well. Name is Ray from central California. I've been buying cigars online for a few years now to escape the Ca. taxes. I'm not real heavy gar chomper but I've been smoking cigars on and off for 20 years. More so now. The wife hasn't completely come on board with my cigar hobby, I'm still required to imbibe outside or in the patio. Thankful we have pretty good weather here. I haven't participated in too many forums. I mostly have looked, bought, searched and absorbed some information. I like the way the regulars treat one another here, so maybe I'll start popping in more often. I've been doing a lot of sampling buying from several sites. I tend to go on the mild to moderate side as far as smokes go. My regulars are mostly Macanudo (Duke de Devon, Portofino), A. Fuente (Double chateau, churchill, seleccion privada 1), Partagas Maduro #1. I'm looking to expand my horizons a bit as well as my cigar budget, until I get my humidors filled up.
Nice to meet y'all. If you would like me to send my required newbie cigars out, I think I have an old box of White Owl's lying around with "It's a girl!" labels.

Welcome! Hey, if you're a Macanudo kinda guy, or even if you're not, you should try a Macanudo Maduro. I always enjoy these.

Hey, Rayder ... you've been around a little while, you should know how this works ... you send US the cigars as a bribe to welcome you ...

What part of Central CA ?? ... closer to LA or SF? I mean, hell, if you're close enough to SF, you can deliver those 'welcome' cigars in person ... just bring the 'gars for the SoCal crowd with you and we'll be happy to forward them on, no problem. See ya' soon.

Slim ... my reverse 'welcome wagon' greeting for newbies has pretty much become a tradition ... guess I'm like a dog chasing a car ... the dog has no idea what he'd do if he were to catch it and I dunno what the hell am I gonna do on the day one of these guys takes me seriously and asks for my address in order to send them ...

Of course, since you would share in the largesse if Rayder or one of the other newbies DOES deliver to the NoCal gang, you might wanna pitch right in the way Mean has ... ROFLMAO

Thank you for the warm welcome(s). I live pretty close to Fresno. I was raised in the Bay Area so I still consider myself a N. Cal person. I still keep my season tickets to the Raiders (though I've been down here for 5 years). I'll pack up that old box of White Owls and take 'em up in a month or so. Steve can pass them around.

Welcome to the communication improvement board! We seem to pretty much agree on one thing, Cigars ugh, wait a minute, we cannot agree on those either...or ugh, well, gee, maybe.....damn, I am gonna light one of those bad boys and redo this whole mess! Charlie

Actually, Charlie is partly wrong ... we do agree on cigars, we just don't agree on which ones.

Other than that, we disagree like a bunch of angry dogs and cats ... we disagree on everything from which newbie is for real (and lately, some aren't) to which end of the cigar to light ...

basically, we come here to DISagree with one another in a polite and civilized manner, although even that is something we don't always agree on ...

What you'll find to be a constant truth is that everyone here is actually a pretty nice guy, despite an occasional disguise and that you can get a lot of good information unless you outbid someone (particularly if you over-bid or try to grab ALL the goodies) ...

Yeah. I've heard a lot about lot jacking. Now thread jacking, that's been around since the inception of newsgroups and forums. I think I can find one thing everyone can agree on. Cigars are too expensive when U pay retail. That's why we are all here!

IMHO there is no cigar truly WORTH more than $5 or $6. But if someone wants to send me one that is WORTH than
$5 or $6. I will be happy to evaluate the cigar and let you know if my opinion changes.
