I am not a pharmacist, but I think:

Vicodin = hydrocodone- a semi synthetic codene.

Percocett = oxycodone- a semi synthetic codene that is stronger than hydrocodone and has a greater potential for abuse and addiction than hydrocodone.

Both of the above are codeine compounds with a few molecular changes to alter their efficacy.

Hope I am correct...

Yeah, that liver failure buzz gets you all sorts of fuh-ed up.

Honestly, aside from the extra strength tylenol that the hydrocodone is paired with, mixing alcohol and opiates is a really bad idea. A LOT of people die doing it...it's one of those things where you don't have to be rip-roaring messed up to slow down your breathing enough to slip into a coma while you sleep, and even less thwacked to aspirate some vomit and suffocate without making a sound. Scary stuff...I wouldn't want my mom or wife or whatever getting that kind of call some morning.

Yeah. Hydrocodone is codeine with a hydroxyl group, and oxycodone is codeine with an oxyl group.

It radically changes the amount that crosses the blood brain barrier, to where oxycodone ~6x more potent than hydrocodone, which is ~6x more potent than codeine.

It's the NSAIDs in it that's bad for your liver. Not hydrocodone. Get your chit right.

If giving via IV. Pills aren't worth a chit. I've taken Dilaudid twice. The first time when I herniated my L5. Was taking one per hour. Absolutely zero relief. The second time I took them was during my bout with kidneys stones a few months ago. Same thing, no relief.

But, when they mainlined me with Dilaudid after the log splitter accident which was right before the kidney stones I was in heaven.

Hey Wheele I remember the lude days. You nailed the panty thing dead on. Then along came ecstasy.

I believe it's the Acetaminophen and opioids(hydrocodone, oxycodone) that stresses/ harms the liver.....

Acetaminophen = NSAID.

The thread was posted in response to the WEED thread, and ruffie thread. Not an actual endorsement of the drug itself, or the benefits/ side effects thereof.

yeah, i know.

I was just pointing out that the opioids are also very damaging to the liver. Unfortunately I know way too much about this
crap.

Wrong.
Acetaminophen, while an analgesic, is NOT an NSAID.

Is Tylenol An Nsaid?
Answer
NSAID or Non-steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drug contains aspirin. These would include Advil, Midol and Motrim. However, Tylenol is not a NSAID since it does not contain aspirin. It is a painkiller, which contains acetaminophen, and this may cause damage to the liver especially if you take more than the required dosage.

You're right.

Tylenol is definitely not an NSaid.

But does ibuprofin and Naproxawhatever sodium (Aleve) actually contain aspirin? I thought they were simply Nsaid's and similar to aspirin in that regards.

No. Aspirin is a different nsaid. It is not a component of other nsaids, although it may have a similar molecular structure.

No, no they aren't. They are substances that are already heavily utilized by your nervous system, and your liver can easily metabolize a fatal dose and then a couple more fatal doses without sustaining damage. Does it make your liver carry out a metabolic process? Yes. Is that process damaging? Not in the slightest.

You could literally superdose morphine or any other natural or synthetic opiate daily to the point of coma, have a doctor keep you alive via artificial respiration, and come out with a squeaky clean liver.

The NSAIDs (that are paired with opiates specifically to deter their abuse by junkies), coupled with the very real addictiveness and abuse potential for opiates, are wholly responsible for painkiller induced liver failure. Gotta keep those medical cogs rolling so the dollars keep streaming in. Vicodin is the single most prescribed medication in the entirety of the US.

Seriously, go find someone with chronic liver disease and ask them what they take for pain relief. It WILL be an opiate, just with no adulterants, for example methadone, morphine, hydromorphone, oxymorphone, hydrocodone, oxycodone, etc., where the pill is opiate and binder only.

I'll take 2 C-B over puking my **** guts out for four hours from buttons. Mescaline is fun, but it does NOT exist in synthetic form (on the market) and all that nasty cactus mucilage can only go out the way it came in.

Yep,
for us, it was the Coleman Dairy Farm, in Little Rock, AR.
We would leave with grocery bags full.
