Long Island middle school bans balls, citing student safety
By Cheryl K. Chumley - The Washington Times
Tuesday, October 8, 2013

So much for tossing the ball during recess — or playing tag. One middle school in Long Island has banned a list of popular playground items because the games promote roughness among the students, administrators said.

Weber Middle School in Port Washington fear that students will get hurt at recess. So, they issued a ban on footballs, lacrosse balls and any other type of ball that could lead to injuries on the playground. Fox News reported that administrators have even put the kibosh on tag.

Social media buzzed with the news.

One Twitter poster wrote, in response to Fox News’ broadcast: “We played dodgeball when I was in school and had stainless steel playground equipment. We survived just fine.”

America at it's best. They will soon look like the people in the "WALL-E" movie. Just another nail in the coffin of this once great country.

I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and guess that this is a predominantly Libtard area.

IIRC, as a child I went home at least once a week with either a cut, an ooohwee knot or brush burn. Those were the days. Not its about how many Pokemon can trained.

I love stories like this.

My older brother took my father's Browning 9mm pistol into high school because he had to give a demonstration speech. He demonstrated how to disassemble and clean the pistol. This was ~ 1978. Wasn't a big deal. He went to his locker got the pistol right before the class; gave his speech and then returned it to his locker. I believe he got an A on the assignment. How times have changed in such a short time. WTF? WTF; I say?

Damn straight. We played on rusty monkey bars on our school playground often getting deep cuts all over that required a Tetanus shot and we loved it!fog

Back in the late '70's and early '80's when I was in high school one could walk through the parking lot at high school and see more than their fair share of shotguns and rifles hanging on gun racks in pickup trucks. There were lot's of us who would get up early and go hunting on the way to school.

How times change though. About two weeks ago a kid rode past an elementary school on a bicycle 5 1/2 miles up the road from where I went to high school with an airsoft gun, a knife and a hatchet. Someone called the cops and he was thrown in jail and charged with terrorizing.
