OK ... I'm somewhat of a novice. I started smoking cigars less than a year ago. OK ... I'm really a beginner. I've bought a lot of cigars since then, mostly trying to get deals at the auctions. I'm through with the 'hit and miss' strategy. You guys out there are experts. I want to buy only the best now ... those closest to Cuban's I can get. I want to fine tune my collection to the excellent ones, the ones I can give to my associates and be confident they will be impressed. I know that it all depends on individual tastes, but there has to be those that everyone agrees on being 'a step above' the rest. I've been told Perdomos, CAO L'Aniversaires, and La Luna's are aways well received. Also, Canaria D'Oro Rothschild Maduro ... any more worth the investment? All that I ask, is that you give your honest opinion ... that way I can make educated choices in my future buys.

Highly objective question Slim. Personally the brands I have listed I would have no problem giving to anyone.

OPUS,Padron Anniv(or any Padron), Fuente, Bahia's, Ashton Cabinet, R&J, and Montecristo.

RyJ, CAO, La Tradicion's, Bahia Gold's, and one of my cheap favorites that ranks with all the others-Mayorga line of cigars. Just depends on personal taste. My dad likes a cheap Corona line I bought for ~ $10 per bundle. So there is no telling. But the list these guys gave and myself are just a few that usually do the job. You never thought a hobby like this would be so $$$ and nerve racking did you?

My picks are Opus X, A Fuente, Patagas, Pardon,
Ashton and Montes. These are names your clients will
have heard of. Remember that most people do not smoke cigars so keep it mild. My # 1 pick is Macanudo.

A Fuente, everyone agrees all shapes and sizes, dollar for dollar. You can't go wrong. This may not be everyones favorite, but no one will ever bad mouth this brand.....Russ

In my never-to-be-humble opinion, the best bang-per-buck is to be had with the Mayorgas (not purchased at auction), Maria Mancinis, and El Rico Habanos. Other worthy cigars, when bought right, include CAO Cameroons and maduros, Padrons, some Fuentes, 5 Vegas, Victory Spirits, some Perdomos, and, perhaps, nextGeneration Black Labels. ( Haven't had white labels yet.) A recent, cheap acquisition, which might have potential, is the La Cubanitas from Mexico. Time in the humidor will tell. Also, the La Maxmillianas can be a reasonably tasty, even though short fillered, cigar. GK

I my opinion, the "Best of the Best" are: Bahia Gold; Padron 1964 Aniv; Partagas Limited Reserve; Ashton VSG and Cabinet; Cupido; Fuente Hemingway, OpusX, and Don Carlos; AVO XO, and La Tradition Reserve Rosado.

" I want to fine tune my collection to the excellent
ones, the ones I can give to my associates and be confident they will be impressed. " ***my suggestions would include: -Padron Anniversary, -Fuente Anejo, -Fuente Opus X, -Fuente Hemmingway, -Ashton VSG (virgin sun-grown), -Perdomo2, -Montecristo, and -Ashton to name a few. NOTE: All but the Perdomo2, Montecristo and Ashton are near impossible to find. These are the "impress them" sticks. A Macanudo will do in a pinch because of name recognition, but it will not be distinguished as all that memorable. Good luck!

GK. NextGeneration R U kidding? This is a primo dog rocket. I would only give this cigar to people I no longer want their business. I cant see giving a Victory Spirit or a Cinco Vegas to business clients unless they were "newbies." I would stick with the BIG names Slim you never know when you are gifting a true afficionado.

I would put Padron Anniversarios at the top of the heap then fill up your humidor with everything else listed above...of course all this will certainly cost you.In the meantime pay attention to the cigar board, some of the best cigars I have smoked have been recommended here and not all will break your bank account:)

What about CAO L'Anniversaire Belicoso Maduro ... these any good? I just won a 5-pak for $25. After shipping, I think I still got a good deal on them. I think the average retail is around $8 a stick ...

Great little cigar.........most of the CAO line are very consistent. The only premium line I have been somewhat disappointed in were the Cohiba Red Dot's at times.....have a great one then a bad one. The Lonsdale Grande are what I usually smoke in that line but the wrappers have came apart last couple of smokes.

You know it's nice to have premium cigars on your desk to offer those clients you have to impress but most of the cigars that have been mentioned are not for the young at heart. They are for the seasoned Connoissour.
I've had clients dive right in and pick out the biggest fattest stogie and proceed to choke and turn all colors of green and then....... So I keep two humidors on my desk now and pretty much know what to offfer who.

I agree Slim...CAO L'Aniversaire Maduro (especially the belicoso) is one of my favorites...I bought a box of the robustos a few months back and over the course of three-four months, they seemed to age a bit and the last few were incredibly good!..Wish I had some more (hint hint)..Just kidding!..LOL..Enjoy the package sent this AM

Slim-One of my favorites. Pretty full-bodied though. If you shop around, you can find them for under $100, for a box of 20.

Maybe the box I had was atypical but they weren't bad, and I think they would have been a lot better had I let them age for a few months.
