We've covered that humidity thing quite well, so let me take us to the other side. Is it just me, or is it hard to keep a house at 70 degrees? Maybe I'm a wuss(that could be another thread), but at 70, we're walking around the house with sweaters on and my electric bill is $500+. Thus, I'm at 74-76 and comfortable, but I'm afraid my boys are sweating. I tend to keep my humidity a little lower to compensate. Any comments. Anyone found a CHEAP way to cool? I did find an electric cooler to use, but it was around $600. I guess I should mention I'm talking about a 'dor that we use as a "coffee table" that holds 20+ boxes and a 'dor that we use as an "end table" that holds 10+ boxes.(and you thought you guys were addicted!)PS-they're both full. I told the wife I think we need the "armoire" sized one soon!

It is not feasible nor likely to keep your box at 70 degrees. Mine stays ~ 72-75. But always keep your box from direct sunlight and try to keep in a cool area of the house.

one thing I have heard is that when the temperature gets over 70, if you have beetles they will come alive and start feasting, This kind of talk can make a person paranoid. I forgot to leave the air conditioner on when I went to work the other day and came home and it was 78 degrees in the cabinet and I started freaking out!

Do you have a basement? Put your gars down there, a basement usually never gets above 70. If you don't you can rationalize gettting a larger temp. controlled humidor!
