Lots aof causes of vertigo.
Most common is the BPPV.....benign Paroxysimal positioning vertigo...as eluded to above..this is caused by build up of crystals in the inner ear..causing the nerves to inadvertently fire at inopertune times and excessively, leading to vertigo and usually hearing loss.
Optic ( ear) nerve poisoning is another...drugs and things...bring a list of all meds to the doc...
Acoustic neuroma...would have seen on CT or MRI
Optic nerve neuritis, labrynthitis...viral infection of middle ear.. Cured by compound tincture of time...
Dehydration can cause this as well
Postural hypotension...low blood pressure...sudden changes in position and the body not adjusting quick enough can cause this...this is commonly accompanied by the "black out" , this is what it sounds like may have happenned to you...drink lots of fluids, and get your pressures check by a GOOD internist (internal medicin doctor), not a family medicine guy...no offense to my colleagues in FM. Or a cardiologist. This is what occurs when you stand up to fast and get dizzy, as we get older we have more issues with this...blockage of the carotid arteries going from the heart to the brain can decrease blood flow to the brain, thus this benign phenomenon of postural hypo tension can be exacerbated, get a doppler ultrasound of these.. To check it out.
These are just a few problems...
I don't knowyour age but the last paragraph applies to a very common cause as we all get older
