People hate unions around here. They never seem to mention as the unions are declining, so is the middle class that supports the economy.

The 1% around here are prolly sharpening their axes, donning their Gucci driving shoes, slipping into a leisure suit and readying a diatribe to tell us how trickle down economics will save us all.

Long live the king. Long live the king.

No they actually love union, but dont know it. Just like socialized healthcare- BMW has both- lol and they keep sucking on that kraut.

Is it any wonder, we have socialized healthcare- BMW has sold more cars than ever and our middle class is gone.

The stupidity is mind-blowing.

The are legendary for cars that go all the way up to 50,000 miles- and not a mile more.

Unions killed manufacturing in the US, but they "save" one company and we're supposed to rejoice?
That's kinda funny. Truth be told, they likely "saved" Ford from themselves. Not quite a true savior. They finally did something worthy after decades of decadence. And add to this the fact that GM did go belly up, in large part because of the unions.

But before you wet your panties, know that I've had a change of heart. Skilled trade unions still serve a great function in this country.

The UAW, however, can be lumped into the teacher unions and all public unions. Great people. Terrible, controlling, counter productive unions.

Just one man's opinion based on my own direct (and consistent) experiences.

Looks like the Sasquatch screwed some sense into ya.

You beautifully point out the conundrum, unions start out as being great things, but sooner or later, due to democracy, fight to lower the standards to the least productive member.

A wiser man than me once said; I dont want to learn from a man who has read a lot of books, for he is just a fool; I want to learn from a man who has traveled.
I now say, dont show me a man that has traveled, show me a man who has traveled and been with a Sasquatch.

Ford was smart. They saw the big picture early on and made cuts. Made people mad that worked there that were not seeing it, but in the end, who was it that didn't get the bailout? A company that sees into the future is a good company to buy from, and certainly a good company to own stock in. Really, what if Cuban refugees didn't see into the future? We'd have no Cuban-seed cigars. But let's not politicize that too much, we could be asking for a sanction on Cuban-seed cigars being that they were blah blah blah...yadda yadda yadda.

Ford rolled the dice after asking for bailout money. They didn't want to lose their stock/ownership.
