Is it really possible to fry taste buds?

Dunno if you can actually fry them, but they can certainly be dulled and become a lot less sensitive ... ergo, the reaction by so many who quit smoking and find their food tastes better (the REAL cause for weight gain in smokers on the wagon) ... and the more one indulges in strong tastes, whether food, cigars, drink, or ??, the more prounouncedly that seems to be true.

As an Irishman by ancestry, words tend to flow freely from me ... to my mothers great chagrin, the report cards of my young life, however, did not read works and plays well with others ... I'm more of the "runs with scissors" type, I'm afraid ... lol

actually, in reading alll the responses to the initial question in this thread, I guess I was wrong about the date of the thread-jacking seminar ... it's already well underway ... lol ... e-Chick would be so at home in a thread with this many 'jackings, to say nothing of how much livlier they'd be ...

(and, e-, if you're out there lurking, jump right in, would you? ... a lot of us miss you)

Oh, and fried chicken. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Oh, and fried eggs. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Doughnuts. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Oh, hell, I fry everything. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

BRains should NEVER be fried!(YUCK)JUst poach them first with a little white wine. The you can eat them with some chopped onions. OR, you can sautee them at this point. PErhaps, even braise tthem witha few vegatables. BTW this works very well with sweetbreads as well. I would not follow this with two powerful of a smoke as you would want to enjoy them both during the course of the evening.

lol at X. I hope your wife doesn't read these.

Since no one else has discussed the topic, I will. I like those little British pickled white onions with my fish and chips.

I've been in Liverpool three times, and each time I practically lived on fish and chips with Curry. If I wanted a change I would get some sort of spinach or meat pie at the chippy. Each trip probably hardened an artery a bit.
