I think this upcoming season (NFL of course) we should work out some manner by which to bet on the games. It could be head-to-head, or some sort of card whereby folks choose several teams. With or without points. I haven't thought this all the way through, but I'm sure somebody here could come up with ideas. We would not bet money, of course, but cigars. Any thoughts as to how we could manage this in such a way that it would be easy to organize?

I would find it easy if you were the one to organize it

Or, you could collect a list of people who want to donate 2 cigars each to a superbowl fund. They would be split between the people who pick the correct team before the season starts. It will not be the Patriots

How 'bout one of those weekly 'pools' ... starting with week one of the season (Pre-season doesn't count), predict the winners for each game plus score for MNF game ... one cigar per week goes into the pot from each entrant, weekly winner gets the pot ... same with playoff games and the Stupor, er I mean Super, Bowl, but gotta predict the scores ... all cigars have to be sent by each participant to the weekly winner by the Wednesday after the games are played ... failure to do send cigar will result in disqualification from future participation.

In the absence of any other volunteer, I will volunteer to administer it for the princely sum of one cigar per participant ... for the season, not for each game ... on the Tuesday preceeding game day, I will send a weekly e-mail to each participant listing all games for the week and will need to get each person's predictions by the Friday preceeding game day. Sending of cigars to the winner will be done by each individual participant.

Who likes that idea? ... it's not chisled in stone and it can easily be tweaked to meet the groups feelings on the subject ...

I like it. Steve, do you have access to the pool cards? Are we using the spread or not? Alternately, could we each mail a cigar to your attention each week, along with a quarter for postage, and then you could pick out your favorite one or two from the bunch and mail the rest to the winner? Just a thought, that way, there is no question about who sent their cigars in. Either way, count me in.
