Democracy is a pathetic belief in the collective wisdom of individual ignorance. No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have researched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby.

There's an old saying in Tennessee - I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee - that says, fool me once, shame on - shame on you. Fool me - you can't get fooled again.

I believe the intent there was to mix an old Chinese proverb with The Who. I think the youngsters call that a mash-up.

Nothing surprising about that. As a general rule in both parties, you don't run against an incumbent from your own party. You wait your turn.

Classic "W"! Beer

A more interesting and scary graph would be the amount of money spent in their first election vs. their last election even when adjusted for inflation. fog

That is bad for business. If they're thrown out then there is a cost for bribing all the new ones that is significantly greater than the cost of maintence bribes to incumbents. This increased cost will have to be passed on to consumers.

No need for that with an endless supply of low wage workers flowing in from Mexico.

Which reminds me . . . Several years back, I was into urbexing, ie; Urban Exploring, scouting old shut down buildings, closed factories, prisons, hospitals, etc ... after several years of neglect, these places take on a life of their own. What's really interesting, is going in after a "scrapper" has been in there, yanking out anything recycleable that can be sold. A buddy of mine who used to do this with me once remarked, that a scrapper would spend all day busting through concrete to get $10 worth of copper, than working a real job . . .

And do $100,000 worth of damage to get that $10 piece of copper. I've seen pictures of guys electrocuted (burned to crisp) while trying to steel live copper wiring, thieving bass turds.

And if the democrats really cared about raising the minimum wage or a living wage, they would turn off the flow.

ANY dumbass knows the 1st thing to do is deal with the porous border FIRST, then we get to rounding up those who've NOT applied for Citizenship and have a MASS deportation ( even though neither party wants to risk those " lost votes"

Rick, how are those rose colored Democratic glasses working out. Democrat good, Republican bad, just because you say so? At least most of the people here see that both parties have major problems, ever if we are Republicans.

Yeah. I could have just as easily said O should be going to jail for Benghazi or Christie the republican who thinks O is great is facing jail time. Or and so it goes. Simply put anyone that thinks that either party does little or no wrong needs to open their eyes. I get irritated with Rick because he sees republicans as the consummate evil without a grey area.

I wish that the chart was a lie, but it is not.

So yes, it is easy to understand, but for me at least, very hard to comprehend. It was like a sock in the gut, really!

Time to light up and to put Led Zeppelin on the sound system. I think that I will start with the LP Presence, Side 2, since it begins with the song "Nobody's Fault But Mine" -- it just seems so fitting.

Thank you for posting that chart victor809, it was quite startling to see it put in that form, to say the least.

In no particular order, here are three names of people that IF the G.O.P. ran them, the G.O.P. would surely take enough Electoral College votes to win the White House in 2016. Thus putting a woman in the office of The President of The United States for the first time in our great nations' history!

If this were to happen, I imagine that Hillionary [sic] Clinton would be pretty angry with Bill!

1. Juanita Broaddrick

2. Kathleen Willey

3. Paula Jones
