Just like wines, there are good years and some not as good. Plus your palate may be off. It can be affected by things you ate, medicines you took, and allergies/sinus issues you may be experiencing. Your emotional state can also have an impact on the cigar you are smoking. Like you said, it was just one cigar so it may be you that is off, not necessarily the cigar. I have this happen from time to time.

Have had cigars from the same box, that tasted quite different.......not sure if it was me, the cigars, or a combination of both.
The factors affecting the taste of the cigar one is smoking at any given moment are so NUMEROUS, that it's almost not even worth trying to analyze why it's good or why it's not good.
It really makes me appreciate Padron, Fuente, and some others (Tatuaje, DPG, etc.), as to how they are able to maintain a relatively high quality and consistent product year to year.
