Watch auctions to see how much they're going for before you get too excited on something selling less than retail. For example, I was bidding on a box several months ago for 125, retail was 200 (making numbers up,don't remember details) 125 was my max bid but I wanted the box and it's still 75 under retail. Well, I let it go for a bit more and then a few days later the mothership had it on sale for 125. So, I paid sale retail and got it less than the auction I lost.
Bottom line is know what you're willing to pay and keep that a hard limit, don't get caught up in bidding and read the descriptions. Look around at retail shops to see sale prices as well.
