Who has noticed the fixed prices on QB and other items w/ no auction portion and they are MSRP to boot?

I noticed it also Philly, could be CBids way of offering those "restricted" brands, or whatever they call it when a manufacturer won't them be on reg auctions. I noticed it on a few of AJs blends

I have noticed a few items that actually went past quick buy ,then to auction..So set price of 20$ on qb ....but then auction took over at 22$+...

I just assumed they had limited quick buys and dropped out...The way it happened was odd though....Who knows...???

Just speculating.....
I think that Cbid probably has a back end POS analysis, that shows what auction eventually go for.
So to keep down on the overbid threads they adjust their QB accordingly.

I think you are over-thinking it there Hillbilly. I think it is an agreement between AF and CBid to allow their cigars to be featured on the site, but maintain the MSRP. By fixing the price at a half buck below the Mothership, you are receiving a discounted price and the manufacturer's goods are not discounted below what they feel is reasonable. It is also a direct sale and technically not an auction so CBid and the manufacturer save face and can claim their products are not available at auction.

Similar to fleaBay - just set the starting bid high enough to satisfy the manufacturer. The CBid quick buy price ensures you still get a discounted price without the threat of some Noob driving up the price.

This is correct.

This is our way of being able to offer price restricted brands to our customers. That way those that are interested can still purchase from us without having to leave the site.

Saves on shipping too since we can now get AF and AJF smokes here. Combine them in with the regular order and they all ship together.

Thats what I said in a direct indirect sort of way.

That extra second of competitive bidders cross reference to the mothership could have given me enough time to pick up a box of AF's from cbid....

Shot that plan down.....

Them suckers move quick!!

I noticed one of them on Quickbid. I don't remember the cigar. I didn't "bid" on it because that was not an "auction." They just put it up on the site to sell. If I wanted to "buy" a stick, I could have gone to the mothership. Shame on you

Well they apparently can't put them up for auction so, IF you want them and IF you have an order from Cbid in already, then you could save some shipping $$ by buying them here

BUT I did notice on, for example, some La Gloria Series R's, which were on a fixed price here, that while the price was the same here and on Mothership and Cigarcommonpunctuationmarkcom, the other sites had special deals with the purchase like 5 extra sticks and "free" cutters and the like.

So the bottom line is check before you click!

I remember some of those brands being up for auction in the past, did they recently restrict some of them?

Yes several brands are preventing Cbid from auctioning their sticks so it looks like they put them here for a fixed price. Does not look like its really any savings off of the main websites, but its a convenience and could save money on shipping if have other orders from here.

Those brands do not want their product sold below MAP pricing. The only way to do this here is to set a fixed price through quick bid. The way I see it cbid is doing this as a convenience for their customers. By doing so they add back in product that was previously unavailable.

Now we are seeing auctions but the Lost City Toro the bidding started at 29.95 that's an insult why bother put it on this site I can get it cheaper at other retail out lets. I love the site but it maybe time to move on when your fixing prices on AB Filthy hooligans when a place stops being a bargain time to move on.
